Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our organization's health and safety programs. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety, and minimizing workplace hazards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proactive approach to training development, enabling them to effectively implement safety protocols across all levels of the organization.

Acclaim Health announces the availability of one (1) Full Time Manager, Health & Safety position. The Individual will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

· Effectively manages the performance of direct reports through monitoring and regular performance reviews.

· Ensures team members understand and are aligned to their key accountabilities and perform to the expected level.

· Ensures that all persons appointed to management or supervisory positions within the organization meet the OHSA definition of competence.

· Investigating all incidents and injuries, identifying root causes and implementing controls to prevent reoccurrences is in place and documented.

· Informing all workers under their supervision of their rights and responsibilities under OHSA and the internal Health and Safety Program.

· Handles the recruitment and onboarding of direct reports.

· Assists with the development of the Health and Safety (H&S) Annual Plan, the Infectious Prevention and Control (IPAC) Annual Plan, the Integrated Quality Plan and leads the implementation in collaboration with Directors.

· Under the direction of the Director, QR, consults, develops and implements Quality Improvement Plans aimed at correcting negative variances, addressing gaps, mitigating risks and promoting agent safety.

· Develops criteria, processes, methods to measure outcomes and organizational performance in collaboration with the Senior Data Analyst, against established standards.

· Provides coverage to organization on infectious diseases and implements appropriate notification/on-call coverage for emergent IPAC issues during absence of IPAC Specialist.

· Conducts hazard identification, analysis and control to ensure organizational compliance with legislation and standards.

· Develops and reviews Emergency Preparedness plans and drills and leads the implementation in collaboration with Directors.

· Develops and maintains training and supporting materials on H&S and IPAC as per the Quality and Risk Education Plan.

· Develops the Quality and Risk Education Plan, in collaboration with the Manager, Quality Assurance.

Qualifications and Education:

· Baccalaureate in Health Administration or equivalent

· Certification in occupational health and safety or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution

· Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification an asset

· Certification in Mask Fit Testing an asset

· Certification in First Aid, CPR an asset

· Valid Ontario driver’s license, use of vehicle and insurance per Acclaim Health policy.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years demonstrated experience in health and safety, infection prevention and control and/or emergency preparedness

· High level of awareness of occupational health and safety and legislation.

· Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

· Effective listening and conflict resolution skills.

· Strong planning and organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

· Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, decision making and negotiating skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

· Good understanding of Acclaim Health’s organization and services.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member

Pay: $40.91-$44.80 per hour
