Full job description
Position Title: Janitorial & Maintenance Agent – Full-Time Seasonal Contract
Reports To: General Manager
Position Overview: The Janitorial & Maintenance Agent will play a critical role as part of the Operations team. In this position, they will be responsible for the cleanliness and general maintenance of our Lewiston NY jet boating operations, including office spaces, changerooms, restrooms and surrounding property.
Our Janitorial and Maintenance Agent will attend to the cleaning and general maintenance of our Queenston, ON facility. We're looking for someone who has perfected the art of mopping and has excellent attention to detail. The goal is to create the cleanest and most welcoming environment for our guests, which is a critical factor in maintaining and strengthening our reputation. If you love chit-chat, keeping things sparkly clean and the variety that comes with random odd-jobs, this might be the perfect position for you!
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and general upkeep and maintenance of bathroom, changing facilities, and surrounding property
- Various other light maintenance (example: ensuring lights are working properly and changing when needed)
- Vacuuming/mopping hallways, stairs and change room facilities
- Maintenance of exterior walkways
- General customer service (example: answer guest questions regarding areas – such as restaurants, wineries etc.)
- Keeping an inventory of supplies and informing your Supervisor of ordering requirements
- Assist in developing preventive and corrective maintenance programs with the Operations Manager.
- Notify the Manager of any damages, deficiencies and disturbances
- Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices
- Hours are typically 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow all company health and safety policies and procedures
- Understanding of all MARSEC (Marine Security and Awareness) levels on how they relate to WJBT operations. In-house training is provided
Physical Demands and Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal communication - confident in speaking and directing guests and comfortable giving directions
- Attention to detail, time management and schedules
- Have a love for cleaning and working with people
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, equipment, techniques and methods
- Knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials
- Ability to physically perform cleaning duties, such as vacuuming and mopping
- Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs)
- Physical stamina and mobility including the ability to reach, kneel and bend
- Ability to work in all weather condition

The tour company’s fleet of custom-built jet boats depart from locations on the Canadian and American sides of the Niagara River, including Queenston, ON and Lewiston, NY.
