Full job description
Overview:
Join our team as a Gymnastics Coach and inspire young athletes to achieve their full potential in a fun and supportive environment. KAGC is currently seeking recreational and competitive coaches who are positive, outgoing, reliable, and team-oriented, with great interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lesson planning, instructing classes, spotting, grading, and distributing progress reports
- Instruct proper techniques, skills, and routines
- Provide feedback and guidance to athletes and parents to improve their performance
- Ensure the safety of all participants during training sessions
- Be vigilant while on duty and ready to respond to emergency situations
- Collaborate with other coaches to coordinate lessons and activities for successful classes
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean training environment and facility
- Ensure a safe and tidy program space, including equipment set-up and storage
- Complete basic administrative duties in a timely manner (ie. attendance, incident/accident reports, opening/closing)
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce organization Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards
- Participate in staff meetings and sessional courses or clinics offered, as required.
- Leading camps, birthday parties and various club events (optional)
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Age 15 years or older (14 years olds may be considered depending on relevant experience)
- Clean Criminal Record Check with Judicial Matters (Level 2), or Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Standard First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain within 1 month of hire
- Foundations Intro certification in artistic gymnastics, or willing to obtain. Training will be provided for the right candidate(s)!
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about gymnastics and working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience as a gymnast or gymnastics coach preferred
- Certification in gymnastics coaching or related field is an asset
- Knowledge of gymnastics rules, techniques, and safety guidelines an asset
- Good communication and interpersonal skills an asset
Schedule can be worked around your availability. Once it is set, it will be set for the 9-10 months of programming (Sept-May/June), with the option to pick up available shifts.
