Full job description
Under the supervision of the Director of Economic Development and Tourism, the selected candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of initiatives for newcomers and to help them settle successfully and to further support the promotion of the French language in our region.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop projects and initiatives to welcome and connect newcomers to services and activities in our communities.
- Facilitate francisation opportunities for newcomers.
- Encourage francophone immigration and create connections between newcomers and our francophone communities.
- Organize integration activities and events for newcomers, including multicultural events.
- Collaborate with the team of the New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC) to support newcomers in our region.
- Build and leverage partnerships by working collaboratively with community partners and employers.
- Work closely with the municipalities and the rural district to identify gaps and opportunities so that newcomers can settle successfully.
- Support the promotion of the French language in our region.
- Develop resources and promotional materials for newcomers, community members and employers regarding immigration.
- Support the Director of Economic Development and Tourism in their tasks.
Work Conditions
- Start Date – March 3, 2025
- Work location - KRSC's office in Richibucto, NB (25 Cartier blvd, unit 145)
- 1-year contract (maternity leave): 35 hours/week -Monday through Friday.
- The incumbent will be required to travel as part of their duties to accommodate our various partners. Meetings and events may take place on evenings or weekends.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in social sciences, social work, recreation, education, or other related fields or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the services, organizations, and socio-economic reality of the Kent region.
- Training or experience in cultural diversity.
- Ability to seize development opportunities and prepare funding applications and reports to develop them.
- Organizational, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills.
- Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar programs.
- Possess a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
