NILTU,O Child and Family Services Society supports commitments of Indigenous families in self-determination and decision- making processes over their own families and children. As the Family Strengthening Service Manager you will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of NIȽ TU,O Family Strengthening Programs. You will collaborate with the NIȽ TU,O Management to design and deliver Family Strengthening programs that meet the needs of our Coast Salish Communities. The position reports to the Executive Director. A summary of duties include the following:

  • Working with Family Strengthening program staff on a regular basis to review and track program and delivery activity
  • Performing staff supervision and performance management for Family Strengthening staff.
  • Managing staff in terms of scheduling, training, employee development, and provision of a first level of response to resolving staff grievances
  • Maintain relationships with our Coast Salish Communities and South Island Service agencies.
  • Maintain a documented list of all Family Strengthening services delivered in the South Island and identify service gaps and overlaps.
  • Develop the annual Family Strengthening program strategy that includes the ongoing evaluation of NIȽ TU,O programs and services.
  • Develop new Family Strengthening programs and participate in staff/contractor recruitment as required.
  • Develop program evaluation tools and process including client feedback process regarding programs delivered
  • Promote awareness and drive utilization of NIȽ TU,O Family Strengthening programs among Coast Salish families and communities.
  • Collaborate on funding proposals for Family Strengthening services.
  • Participating in short and long term planning and goal setting for the Agency
  • Maintaining a sound understanding of Funder contract requirements

Previous experience with program development will be a requirement of the role. Experience working as or with Social Workers supporting children in care is considered a strong asset. The successful candidate will be required to get obtain employer paid C4 training if they do not have it already. Due to the nature of this role a clean criminal record and valid driver’s license are required as well.

Our ideal candidate will also possess the following:

· Knowledge of family centered, family strengthening and strength-based and trauma-informed practice frameworks;

· Knowledge of the seven Coast Salish communities we provide services to, and the culture, language and teachings.

· Knowledge of NIȽ TU,O CFSS, and internal and external resources and community services;

· Knowledge of general program funding and eligibility for expenditures;

· Knowledge of and sensitivity to the shared context of colonization and the implications for Indigenous children, youth, families and communities;

· Well-developed interpersonal skills and effective communication skills;

· Strong organizational and time management skills;

· Ability to orient, train and provide leadership and consultative support to staff;

· Ability to handle crisis and crisis intervention;

· Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing;

· Ability to effectively use computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, information management systems, and other relevant computer systems

  • Bachelors of Social Work, or Masters in Social Work, or Bachelors of Art in Child and Youth Care, or Masters in Educational Counseling/Masters in Clinical Psychology.
  • Four or more years of experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations mandated to provide health, counselling, and child and family services.
  • Candidates must either have or be eligible to attain full C6 delegation.
  • In-depth knowledge of AOPSI and agency's policies, procedures, and practice manuals.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFCS Act and other related legislation.
  • Valid Driver's license with a positive driver's abstract and will be expected to travel for work.
  • You will require a clean Criminal Record Check.
  • Full vaccination required as per NIȽTU,O COVID-19 Policy
  • Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community and/or Substantial cultural competencies with lived experience of engaging in and maintaining intercultural affiliations
  • Practice rooted in social justice, Indigenous and anti-oppressive approaches to working with communities, families, and individuals
  • In depth knowledge of the intergenerational trauma that occurs as a result of colonization, including the impacts of the Indian Act, Residential Schools Sixties Scoop, and other oppressive systems and structures.
