Facility Custodian

Overview:

The Facility Custodian reports to the Plant Supervisor and works with employees at all levels of the organization. This position is responsible for the housekeeping, cleanliness of all areas of the precast concrete manufacturing facility. Responsibilities also include cleaning concrete formwork, floors, bathrooms, offices, and supporting production by performing general maintenance cleaning duties to ensure the facility and equipment are in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

Responsibilities:

· Cleaning floors with mops, brooms, dust pans, vacuum cleaners, or other cleaning equipment.

· Cleaning walls, windows, floors, stairways, restrooms, and other surfaces.

· Gathers and disposes of trash

· Manages the inventory of cleaning products, tools and equipment

· Provide cleaning support to plant and maintenance staff as required including cleaning trays beneath conveyor belts and detailing machinery

· Cleaning machinery and equipment such as pipes, steel columns/beams and walls

· Removing grease, oil, dirt and other contaminants from machinery and equipment using solvents and detergents.

· Complete any required safety risk assessments before beginning each task, report any safety hazards or environmental concerns in prompt and effective manner

· Receive oral or written instructions to determine and perform work assignments.

· Operate various hand and power cleaning tools, machines and other equipment as directed

· Perform other tasks related to production support, cleaning, and housekeeping as required.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

Skills and Experience:

· Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial facility

· Demonstrated ability to always maintain high level of safety

· Exceptional attention to details

· Able to work in a fast-paced, busy production environment

· Basic equipment knowledge and experience and use of hand/power tools is an asset

· Able to work unsupervised demonstrating the necessary initiative and motivation to complete all tasks

· Able to communicate, and work well with others in a team environment

· Ability to focus and accurately complete both complex and repetitive tasks

· Always maintain a professional attitude, especially when handling difficult and/orstressful situations

· Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and strenuous movements, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, crouching, and handling of materials

· Willing to work overtime as required

Years of experience:

· Minimum 1year experience in a janitorial or similar position in an industrial or manufacturing facility cleaning position

Tools/Equipment

· Steel-toed safety boots (own)

· Hard Hat, Safety Vest, Glasses, gloves, and ear plugs (supplied)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.40-$27.40 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week
