Portugal Cove St. Philips Soccer Association is a not for profit organization that serves the youth of the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip's and the surrounding area, to provide recreational and competitive soccer programs for ages U3 and up.
Position Summary: The Technical Director will oversee and lead the development of soccer programs within the Portugal Cove St. Philip's Minor Association (PCSPSA). This role includes working closely with the Volunteer Executive Board to enhance player and coach development, foster community engagement, and ensure the long-term growth of the club.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Player and Coach Development: Develop and implement plans to attract new players and coaches. Support the development of players across all programs and assist in the improvement of recreational programs and skills camps. Work with existing and new coaches to enhance their skills, competency, and training levels.
- Club Growth: Collaborate with the Metro/PYL League Director and the President to facilitate the growth of PCSPSA. Participate in community events to represent the club and promote its programs.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Create and edit policy and guideline documents. Ensure the implementation of and adherence to all club policies. Produce technical reports and audiovisual presentations. Organize and oversee programs, tournaments, camps, and clinics, as directed by the Executive Committee. Provide content for the club's website, assist with coach recruitment, and support scheduling for club programs.
- Coach Education and Development:Design and manage all coaching education and development activities. Conduct coach meetings and program planning sessions. Develop and distribute coaching materials for all programs.
- Operational Support:Provide backup support for coaches in the event of unexpected absences. Attend the club’s Annual General Meeting and other key meetings. Ensure smooth operational processes related to technical and coaching support.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary certification in a related field.
- Proven experience in soccer coaching and/or technical program management, preferably at a director level.
- Strong understanding of player development, coach education, and soccer program management.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in a collaborative environment with volunteers and board members.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, including document creation, program scheduling, and policy implementation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by club activities and events.
- Coaching certifications or licenses (e.g., National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent). Minimum C License.
- Experience in community engagement and volunteer management as well as familiarity with soccer associations or youth development programs would be considered an asset.
