Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Geoscientist
Niagara Soils Solutions Ltd. is an environmental consulting firm serving private and public sector clients throughout the Niagara Region. We are seeking an Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist, to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with a minimum of 5 years of environmental consulting experience.
The successful applicant will work with a team of professionals and technical specialists, passionate about delivering and supporting Environmental Site Assessment services to our clients. The role will include a balance of field work and office duties, including data analysis, and report writing/review relating to phase one and two environmental site assessments, soil & groundwater remediation, excess soil management, designated substances & hazardous materials surveys, and record of site condition filings. A key focus of this role will be projects associated with O. Reg. 406/19 Onsite and Excess Soil Management. It is expected the candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of applicable regulations and have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
DUTIES
- Plan, conduct and oversee field investigations for Environmental Site Assessments.
- Be effective at delegating tasks appropriately, tracking milestones, and time management.
- Understand and apply industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze data.
- Address client questions and comments promptly and effectively.
- Provide QA/QC and senior technical review of deliverables.
- Be a strong team player able to work with and lead members of different backgrounds and experiences in completing time sensitive assignments.
- Manage personnel and resources, with a strong focus on health and safety management.
- Promote team effort and collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be licensed as a certified professional by one of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) with P. Eng., or Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) with P. Geo.
- 5+ years of practical, progressive environmental consulting experience and strong technical background with extensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including but not limited to O. Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg. 406/19.
- Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing field investigation work plans and quality assurance project plans for large environmental site assessment and remediation projects.
- Proven technical writing skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage time and multiple projects accordingly.
- Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Proven organizational, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Commitment to excellence with a focus on quality control and quality management.
- Valid driver's license.
