Position Overview: Director of Human Resources
Location: Calgary, AB – Onsite CUPS Office 1001 10 Ave SW
Reports To: Vice President – Culture and Strategy
Team: 4 Direct Reports – HR Business Partner, HR Generalist and Payroll Team Lead, HR Advisor, and HR Assistant. 1 Indirect Report – Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Organizational Budget: ~18 million
As the Director of Human Resources, you’ll play a pivotal role in cultivating an inclusive, values-driven culture that supports employee and client success. Collaborating with the VP of Culture and Strategy, you’ll design and implement strategies that position CUPS as an employer of choice while aligning HR practices with our integrated care service delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Collaborate with the VP of Culture and Strategy to create a trauma-informed, approachable, and caring environment.
- Withing the direction of the VP develop and execute strategies for purposeful culture development, employee engagement, and leadership capacity building.
- Build and maintain a high-performing HR team that excels in the complexities of non-profit people management.
- As subject matter expert in HR, act as an advisor to CUPS leadership on HR matters, including employee relations, compensation, role design and risk management.
Organizational Performance:
- Working in service to CUPS strategic goals, oversee and execute HR programs, policies, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and CUPS' culture.
- Drive employee engagement strategies and develop total rewards programs to attract and retain top talent.
- Oversee the design and execution of payroll and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead and implement Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Wellness initiatives in partnership with Organizational leaders and H&S Committee to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
- Oversee Disability and Leave management ensuring supportive and connected employee experience
- Leverage HRIS systems and analytics to enhance decision-making and reporting.
- Champion and develop diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create a welcoming and equitable workplace.
- Lead recruitment strategies, from onboarding to succession planning, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Foster collaboration across teams, ensuring alignment and clear communication.
- Partner with the VP to support a healthy workplace culture by addressing concerns with compassion and professionalism.
- Maintain and develop relationships with Post Secondary institutions, positioning CUPS as a placement of choice for practicum students, interns, and residents
- Represent CUPS at board meetings, third-party events, and internal engagements as requested.
What You Bring
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years in senior HR roles, with 10+ years in HR generalist capacities.
- Credentials: CPHR designation required; SHRM designation, project/change management certification are assets.
- Expertise: Experience in total rewards design, payroll and benefits administration, OHS practices, and trauma-informed leadership.
- Passion: Strong connection to CUPS values and purpose; Drive to mentor and develop HR Team members; A practice that incorporates human centered decision making and collaboration
- Education: Degree in business, social sciences, or related field.
- Non-Profit Savvy: Understanding of trauma-informed HR practices and experience with payroll are strong assets.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $95,400.00-$103,300.00 per year
