Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Director of Editorial Content with 6–8 years of experience in editorial and lifestyle content creation to join our dynamic team. This hands-on role will focus on writing and editing high-quality articles and scripts for radio and video projects and custom content while overseeing the production of diverse content formats.

As a key member of the News Canada team, you’ll work closely with internal teams and the Director of Media Relations to align content strategies with outreach efforts, maximizing client impact and audience engagement. This role is ideal for a skilled content creator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• For NewsCanada.com: Write and edit articles and scripts for radio and video, ensuring they meet newsroom standards and client-specific guidelines.
• For Fifth Story and its sister company, Agency5S, write and edit content in long- and short-form copy for various content platforms.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop tailored content solutions that resonate with target audiences.
• Maintain high standards for accuracy, creativity, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Provide mentorship and support to team members or freelancers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.
• Work with the Director of Media Relations to align content strategies with broader outreach efforts.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience working in a full-time or part-time employed capacity (not freelance) at a Canadian publication, with a strong preference for those who have worked at community newspapers or consumer lifestyle-focused publications.
• 6–8 years of experience in editorial content creation or a related field.
• Post-secondary education in journalism.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong portfolio of work across multiple platforms.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
• Experienced with Canadian Press style and industry best practices.

Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
