Day Camp Counsellor

$19.50 - $21/hr + vacation pay

Responsibilities:

* Create themed weekly activity plans for children aged 5-9 including games, crafts, storytelling, hiking adventures, and/or nature education/ exploration utilizing the vast forest landscape & trail system. Your creative mind is an asset!

* Coordinate the delivery of activity plans with enthusiasm for nature & a positive attitude inspiring participant engagement.

* Foster environmental awareness & promote nature conservation.

* Supervise a group of children up to a maximum of 24 participants/day & utilize problem solving skills as needed.

* Act as a mentor for Junior Leaders aged 10-12.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

~ Detail oriented, organized, creative, fun loving, and understands time management.

~ Ability to work on a team with the goal of delivering a quality camp program.

~ Strong communication skills with a desire to provide an inclusive & safe learning environment.

~ Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

~ MUST be available for full time employment from 06/23/25 - 08/29/25. Note: as this is a seasonal opportunity extended time off is not available. Coverage is provided for illness, injury and/or other relevant circumstances.

~ Available to attend an orientation/ training session on 06/08/25, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

~ Clear RCMP vulnerable sector criminal record check. MUST be received by 06/01/25.

~ Secondary School Diploma.

Qualifications viewed as an asset but not required:

+ Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification.

+ Summer Camp Leader experience and/or leadership training.

+ Background in nature, forestry, and/or early childhood education or related field relevant to children's nature day camps.

Hiring Timeline:

> Applications accepted 03/23/25 - 04/18/25.

> Qualified candidates will be contacted by email to schedule a 5-10 minute prescreen Zoom call between 03/31/25 - 04/19/25.

> Candidates selected for the short list MUST be available to attend an interview on 04/27/25, between 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Candidates who are unavailable to attend this date, may be offered an exception to attend on an alternative date. However, priority will be given to those who can attend an interview on 04/27/25.

~ The successful candidate will be notified on 05/02/25.

Morrell Nature Sanctuary is a member based non-profit society driven by a team of dedicated volunteers offering educational programs for school children. We aim to foster a deeper understanding & appreciation of nature while promoting preservation and conservation.
