Position Overview
Lakefield LLP is a Saskatchewan team with a modern take on law.
We currently have an opening for a Corporate Legal Assistant. You will be responsible for handling corporate transactions including incorporations, reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities include:
- Lawyer practice management functions, including calendar and task maintenance.
- Preparation of documents relating to corporate transactions such as incorporations, reorganizations, dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
- Creation and submission of corporate filings at Information Services Corporations, Corporate Registry and Corporations Canada.
- Creating, updating, and maintaining corporate minute books and ledgers.
- Performing due diligence searches and compiling reports.
- Coordinating distribution of funds (including trust funds) in relation to commercial transactions.
- Written and oral communications with clients, accountants, and financial institutions.
- Meeting with clients.
- Preparing reporting packages to clients and accountants.
- Maintenance of filing and records systems.
- Commissioning documents.
- Performing related clerical duties such as word processing, dictation, telephone calls, and administrative support as required.
- Utilizing firm specific software.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Minimum Education: Legal Assistant or Administrative Assistant Diploma or Certificate from recognized educational institution.
- Minimum Experience: 3-4 years in a related position.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Experience with industry software applications such as Microsoft Office programs and Information Services, Corporate Registry. Experience with Emergent and Acumin software will be considered an asset.
- Strong initiative and autonomy to work with little supervision.
- High attention to detail and organization skills.
- High productivity levels and ability to handle several competing deadlines.
- Ability to work with confidential data.
- Oral and written communication skills with superior telephone skills and professional disposition.
- Ability to take instruction and willingness to adapt practices to conform with Lakefield firm standards.
