BEL Contracting has excelled in civil contracting across Western Canada, focusing on underground utility and road construction. Our expertise spans transportation and infrastructure projects for provincial, municipal, and private clients, ensuring quality through safety, efficiency, and budget adherence. We offer tailored construction solutions, including planning, design services, grading, excavating, culvert and utility installations.
We are currently looking for Civil Foreperson to join our team for exciting Infrastructure projects in and around the Lower Mainland (Vancouver Area) ofBC. There is no camp work/live out (LOA) available at this time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding that as a supervisor, the foreperson is responsible for safety, quality, and protecting the environment for the assigned work
- Leading crews to install deep utilities in difficult ground conditions (open cut and shored excavations)
- Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications to provide clear instructions to the crew
- Maintaining daily records including crew and equipment time, material receiving, productions and summary of activities on site
- Training each position on the crew and taking responsibility for the crew’s development
- Working with the project superintendent to plan ahead and ensure materials and resources are in place ahead of the work
- Leading from the front lines; directing the work and being with your crew at all times (BEL expects all forepersons to be working forepersons)
- Being punctual and having excellent attendance
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years experience leading crews on civil construction projects
- Experience with Bid2Win (B2W) software is an asset
- Safety knowledge for the construction industry
- Valid drivers license required, and your own transportation
- Certifications an asset: First Aid, Confined Space, Utility Locating, Rigging, etc.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of team; Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
- Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift 50lbs for full shift
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
This is a Unionized position with LiUNA! Local 1611 Construction & Specialized Workers’ Union. This position will earn Union wages and will have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan.
Expected wage range: Unionized wage range for this position is $44.03 to $51.78 per hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate’s experience)
