About us

Wellkin Child & Youth Mental Wellness is a Lead Agency for infants, children, youth, and families in Oxford & Elgin Counties.

Board Member (Voluntary role)

Wellkin Child & Youth Mental Wellness is seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors provides governance oversight in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Our Board provides support and guidance to our leadership team, and helps to reinforce our vision, mission, and values.

Time Commitment:

Board members must commit to serving a for a 2-year term and willing to consider serve up to four (4) terms. Members must also be willing to commit approximately 3-4 hours average/month depending on activities (includes Board and Committee meetings, participation in events, meeting preparation and follow up). All individuals applying must be at least 18 years old. Members must also live and/or work in Oxford or Elgin Counties.

  • Participation in monthly board meetings
  • Participation in development and training opportunities to enhance your skills
  • Participation in external community activities and events that contribute to increasing Wellkin's visibility and reputation
  • Participate in and support fundraising activities for organization
  • Remain informed of the programs and services provided by the organization and publicly support them.
  • Support the Executive Director and Board of Director colleagues to oversee our strategic direction, monitor our performance, quality and risk, and ensure sustainability.

Training

Board members participate in annual orientation and ongoing training sessions

Our volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of community members who offer a diverse skillset, experience and perspective. We are seeking individuals with diverse life experiences and an interest in giving back to their communities

We are seeking individuals with previous Board experience or a desire to gain Board experience, and an appreciation of not-for-profit governance. We are looking for individuals who understand the nature, complexity, and the needs of our clients and their families who require support in the community.

You will contribute your unique experience and perspective

You will contribute your time in a meaningful and rewarding way, grow professionally and together with your Board of Director colleagues will make a noticeable difference to our organization and to the people we serve in Oxford & Elgin Counties.

The Wellkin Board of Directors is currently seeking a community member to fill the role of Director. As a community member we will benefit from your expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial management
  • Risk management
  • Government relations/Public policy
  • Communications/Media
  • Fund development/Fundraising
  • Human resources
  • Legal
  • Not-for-profit governance
