Pathway Health has also developed an expertise in harm reduction where medicinal cannabis is being used as an alternative to traditional opioids.

The Clinic Network, a division of Pathway Health is actively looking for a Bilingual Patient Educator to join our virtual clinic team.

The Bilingual Patient Educator is responsible for working in line with the company and physicians of Pathway Health Services to help provide guidance to patients regarding dosage and preferred consumption of medical cannabis. The primary function of an educator is to educate the patients on medical cannabis and licensed producers and to work with them to outline the process for registering with licensed producers, ordering and consuming their prescription while acting in the best interest of the patient as it relates to their financial situation and their medical need. Educators are also required to provide administrative support in line with operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and private space where patient feels supported in making decisions regarding medical cannabis ordering and consumption
  • Educate patients regarding medical cannabis, consumption methods outlined by the physician, options for licensed producers, and answer any questions that are aligned with their use of the medical prescription

  • Product pricing, including veteran, low income, disability programs
  • Educating on grow for self-option
  • Assist patients and family members (where applicable) with concern and empathy and with respect to their confidentiality and privacy
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) – patient look up and data entry
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate
  • Patient follow up and quality assurance
  • Assist with community, medical and non-profit presentations
  • Ensuring Health Canada documentation is complete and accurate
  • Ensuring patients have registered with one (1) or more Licensed Producers prior to completing the appointment
  • Ongoing patient support as required
  • Liaison between patient, MD/NP and LP as required by patient
  • Support and/or perform clinic administration duties as required

Abilities and Knowledge

  • English / French Bilingual – Must be fluent with the ability to converse, read, write in both languages
  • Perform the described responsibilities in a professional, competent and timely manner
  • Must have strong and demonstrated interpersonal, professional communication etiquette and strong listening skills
  • Must have strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to be disciplined, to remain calm in difficult situations and work in a high stress environment
  • High level of integrity, privacy, confidentiality and accountability
  • Must demonstrate strong knowledge of and adherence with the Health Information Act
  • Performance of the described responsibilities complies with Health Canada standards and any/all federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
  • Highly flexible, adaptable with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Must have strong administrative abilities with high attention to detail/accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team when required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and data entry skills
  • Must have knowledge of EMR software, Input Health experience an asset
  • Superior time management and organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, self-starter
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
  • Knowledge of medical cannabis and licensed producers is an asset
  • Able to provide compassionate care to patients with reasonable expectations from the business
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of patients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
  • Must be passionate about medical cannabis, helping people and providing exceptional care to patients
  • Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times
  • Excellent work performance and attendance

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Effective customer service skills, 2+ years’ experience preferred, including strong knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
