Automation Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Automation Specialist who will lead in component selection, design, electrical schematic drafting and programming, and testing PLC’s, robots, and HMIs.   • 5+ years of automation experience (industrial electrical design, controls, and programing)
  • Solidworks experience

Location Carleton Place, ON. Please note we will only be hiring candidates that currently reside in Canada.


  • Understand and have knowledge of building mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, typical building control system sensors and devices
  • Create and test sequence of programming and operation
  • Point to point, pre-functional, and functional testing of equipment/systems
  • Create high quality electrical drawings for various projects, including BOM & panel layouts
  • Configuring and testing of robotic system
  • Programing for various PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems
  • Interact with the trades, designers, and engineers to ensure correct functionality
  • Learn to interact with new PLCs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Considered an Asset

  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Self-starter who has the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to describe technical information in easily understood terms
  • Degree or diploma from a recognized college or university with specialization in automation controls or similar field
  • Hands-on robotics experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation
  • High attention to detail
