Assistant Store Manager

We are a specialty XC Ski and bicycle retailer serving the Ottawa-Gatineau community. We have one full-time position available for ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER. The ideal candidate will be an experienced cyclist and/or skier, either recreationally or competitively, who is comfortable carrying out minor repairs and/or diagnostics.

On-site training is provided. This is not a seasonal position. We are offering 12-month employment, since we offer products for sale in all four seasons, unlike traditional bike shops.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Floor Supervision

• Offer expert bike fitting and XC ski fitting service to loyal customers
• Manage staff and assign duties
• Provide best-in-class customer service to customers
• Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages. Be available to assist junior staff with questions and/or problems.
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
• Coordinate activities between sales floor and service/mechanic shop in cooperation with Service Manager to ensure customer needs are met.
• Report to Store General Manager, or act as on-site Manager when not scheduled alongside GM.

Product Purchasing & Presentation

• Assist with day-to-day merchandising and implementing optimal floor layout each season
• Determine merchandise and services to be sold. Assist with annual booking orders, and in-season repeat orders and special orders
• Liaise with supplier representatives
• Locate, select and procure merchandise for resale
• Coordinate and track special orders from end to end
• Develop and implement marketing strategie, including social media campaigns

Identify Growth Opportunities

• Plan budgets and monitor revenues and expenses
• Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales
