The Position:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Learning-4-Life, the Learning-4-Life Facilitator (Relief Staff) will be responsible for providing support to the Coordinator, Learning-4-Life and full-time Learning-4-Life Facilitator with program delivery to adult day program participants. In collaboration with the full-time staff in the program, they are responsible for implementing the Learning-4-Life program, while ensuring the well-being, and promoting the development and independence, of Learning-4-Life program participants.

What You’ll Do:

· Participant Support. You will establish a rapport and respectful relationships with Learning-4-Life program participants and their families, recognizing the participants’ strengths and abilities while promoting their dignity and well-being. You will assist participants with hand-over-hand assistance when needed. You will guide participants to make positive decisions. You will ensure that participants are always safe and accounted for. You will assist with the use and monitoring of special aids such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, crutches, etc. You may be required to do physical work such as pushing wheelchairs, assisting participants with sitting, standing and bending, and helping clients engage in program activities including adaptive archery, nature walks, crafts, baking etc.

· Program Implementation. In collaboration with the Coordinator, Learning-4-Life and the full-time Learning-4-Life Facilitator, you will assist in the implementation of the Learning-4-Life program. You will assist in the organization and preparation of the day-to-day activities within the Learning-4-Life program. You will assist in the general organization/cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of all Learning-4-Life program areas.

What You’ll Bring:

· Education and Experience. You have post-secondary education in Social Work, Disability Studies, Social Services, Developmental Services, Behavioural Sciences, Adult Education, or related field. You have experience managing and delivering programs, services, and initiatives for people who experience a wide range of disabilities.

· Empathy and Compassion. You exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and an awareness of barriers to success, including learning limitations. You inspire confidence, resilience, and self-esteem in others through respect, acceptance, and focus on strengths and achievements. You have exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to establish rapport with people of diverse backgrounds.

· Communication and Collaboration. You have outstanding communication skills and are comfortable in group settings. You can easily make connections with peers and participants. You are an effective team player with a positive attitude whose interactions demonstrate accountability, authenticity, and collaboration.

· Organization. You can manage multiple demands and can work independently without close supervision. You are self-motivated, and results-oriented; you demonstrate initiative and contribute to a work environment that values and encourages innovation.

· Administrative Requirements. You have a current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector from the last 6 months, which is required. You have an up to date First Aid and CPR C/AED certification.
