About SPRINT Senior Care:

SPRINT Senior Care began caring for seniors and enabling seniors to care for themselves in 1983. We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible. They also prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization.

Position Type: Bargaining Unit Position; Full-Time, Contract (Contract Length: 8 Weeks)

Reports To: Manager, Adult Day Program

Location: Adult Day Program

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and delivery of department activities.
  • Assist with gentle exercise programs and food security programs
  • Assist with virtual programs
  • Socialize with clients
  • Helping with setting up, serving and cleaning up for meal and wellness programs
  • Assist with administrative tasks and projects
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions
  • Provide feedback as to how to improve programs and services
  • Prepare communications and program materials
  • Maintain and update digital records
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or completed a post-secondary Health, Activation, Recreation, Kinesiology, Social Work, Social Service Worker, Gerontology program, or a related field.
  • Experience working with seniors and persons with dementia is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.

  • Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.

  • International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
