Store Manager duties and responsibilities

In order to excel in their role, Store Managers will take on a variety of duties and responsibilities. These may vary depending on the store, and they may delegate some duties to others. Most importantly, a Store Manager watches over the store and is responsible for everything that happens within it. Some of their duties and responsibilities include:

  • Opening and closing the store, including cleaning and tidying of merchandise
  • Recruiting and training new employees, as well as disciplining them as needed
  • Managing and monitoring financials, including closing out tills at the end of the night or shift

The Foam Shop is a 100% Canadian owned, family operated business. Starting from a single store in North Vancouver, we now have 12 stores across the lower mainland and an online store. We have Canada's largest retail inventory of comfort products -- and we're still growing.

We are urgently seeking a store manager for our Prince George store. After training and gaining some experience with our customers, our team members very often grow into senior managing positions. We pride ourselves in providing a training program that rewards and facilitates the journey from associate to manager. The successful candidate will be able to elevate company standards, achieve sales goals and meet the client’s expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Liaison with management to develop and implement short- term and long-term growth strategy
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
  • Assess customers needs and provide assistance and information on product features
  • Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
  • Cut and shape foam products to the specifications of our customers
  • Observes and coaches team members' performance to maintain high standards of customer service and product knowledge
  • Build productive trust relationships with sales team and customers
  • Act as a role model by providing exemplary customer service
  • Adheres to and ensures that all team members are aware of, understand and comply with all new and existing Company policies and procedures.

    Requirements
  • Strong understanding of sales management principles and best customer service practices

  • The Foam Shop is a very creative and custom service environment. We handle customer's drawings, dimensions and templates to then measure and cut their shapes of foam within the closest 1/4inch. We use steel rulers and a small handheld foam cutter. We do provide training on all of these skillsets, but please indicate any experience you have professionally or as a hobby that would assist you in performing in this type of environment.

    A Store Manager is often the most senior role at a given store. An Assistant Manager will have very similar duties and responsibilities to a Store Manager, however, they will report to the Store Manager. The Store Manager will delegate tasks to the Assistant Store Manager, as needed.
