Accounts with Smart Screening
After you enrol your jobs in Smart Screening, Indeed uses your job description to help you screen candidates based on your objective criteria. This article guides you through customizing those criteria.
Set up and manage screening criteria
- In the left-hand rail, select Smart Screening.
- Choose the job you want to edit.
- Review the screening criteria pulled from the job description.
- Select Edit on the right-hand side.
- On the Edit page, update the criteria directly or use the AI chat to make changes.
- Tip: Use this section to define required and preferred criteria.
- Select Save.
Note: Updates won't change your job description, but they may affect AI recruiter questions and other post-apply automations.
Managing follow-up questions
Activate follow-up questions via voice, chat, or video right after they apply. These questions are generated based on your scoring instructions, and they will be automatically updated when those instructions change. Certain questions will be skipped if evidence can be found in the resume.
To use follow-up questions:
- In the left-hand rail, select Smart Screening.
- Choose the job you want to edit.
- Scroll down to Enable follow-up questions by AI Recruiter.
- Choose how candidates should respond: text, video, or audio.
- If your screening criteria are up to date but you want to change the questions, click Edit.
- Make your changes and select Save.
Note: If you manage your jobs through an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), your ATS platform may control its own screening question settings. You'll see these on your screening page, but you need to edit them directly in your ATS platform.
Licenses and certifications
Indicate which licence or certification the role requires and allow applicants to provide additional details about their licences and certifications.
To enable:
- In the left-hand rail, select Smart Screening.
- Choose the job you want to edit.
- Licences and certifications
- Select Add.
- Choose from a curated list.
- Select Save.
Note: Features are available for specific job types. Contact your Indeed representative to learn which verifications are available for your account.
Next Steps
Once your criteria are set up:
- Preview the candidate experience to see how applicants will interact with your screening.
- Set up automated communications based on screening results.
- Configure which candidates automatically forward to your ATS.
