Job Posting Location Policy
This policy explains how to choose the correct job location when posting on Indeed. It covers office-based, province-wide, nationwide, remote, hybrid, and travel-based roles. The rules apply to all employers posting jobs on the platform.
Policy requirements
Employers must post jobs to the most specific and accurate location possible. Location variations* are not allowed. This ensures that job seekers get clear and relevant search results.
*A location variation is a job posted outside the actual working location.
How to choose the right location for your business
Follow these rules when posting different types of jobs:
Office-based jobs
Use the street address where the job seeker will report to work, or at a minimum, the postal code. If these are not possible for your location, please use the most precise location possible.
You can hide the street address
Hybrid or remote jobs
Learn more about posting a remote job.
Province-wide jobs
Use only if the role can be performed by candidates from anywhere in the province.
Job seekers can find these jobs by filtering by province.
Nationwide jobs
Use only if the role can be performed by candidates anywhere in the country.
Jobs posted to Canada or Nationwide appear only in nationwide search results.
Jobs with travel requirements (transitory)
Use the most specific location where the job seeker must work.
Select On the road if you allow remote work when not travelling. Please provide the most specific expected location of travel.
In the job description, include:
Expected travel percentage (for example, 25% or 75%)
Whether you'll cover travel expenses.
State that, other than travel, this job can be remote
Exceptions or special cases:
Jobs based in more than one legitimate work location may be posted to each of those locations.
