Avoid VSC Department like the plague!
Vehicle Service Contract Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) - Overland Park, KS - 16 September 2019
Where do I start? Zurich as a company is not too bad of a place, BUT the VSC (Vehicle Service Contract) department is the red headed step child. The department is grossly understaffed for the volume of calls/work coming in. The new AVP has no clue how to run it or retain good employees. The management staff will just sit back & watch when 20+ people are on hold for the claims department, they will not consider picking up a phone and helping. One particular manager should be locked in a closet with only a computer to work on, never to “manage” a human again, horrible bed side manor & zero people skills. 5 years ago, this was the place to be for the car minded person.... today, it’s a sweat shop full of empty promises & complete lack of management! Run Run Run!

subpar team managers
Claims Adjuster (Current Employee) - Atlanta, GA - 28 November 2018
if you are looking for a place to get promoted or be valued atlanta zurich claims is not the place. zurich itself is fantastic but because the managers are of very low caliber in this particular office, you will have no other choice but to eventually leave. team managers don't train or promote or know how to lead/manage. everyone around them leaves or gets replaced but they have been allowed to remain and have ran this office into the ground for years. no one understands how this is possible. morale is very low. this is very unfortunate as overall zurich is great and people are sad to leave here but again, have no choice since they have no future at zurich under the current team managers that just won't go away.
Pros
zurich is great, benefits are awesome, great work life, bonus
Cons
team managers are unqualified and most need to be replaced

Would not recommend
Claims Adjuster (Current Employee) - Overland Park, KS - 30 May 2018
Completely over worked. Not enough adjusters. New people might as well be lit fire and put on the floor with no training. They are completely understaffed you end up doing more than just your job as they are way way way understaffed every where. Management could care less. Just pile on more cause hay deligate who cares if they are already overloaded. Horrible days at work that feel like they will never end. Oh and their metrics pit employees against each other. Cheaters who cut corners win. Their health insurance and dental are not the best unless you pay thru the nose for better benefits. Time off is what you live for just to get away from the stress. Don’t drink the koolaid just run from this job to a better one if possible.

Do more with less
Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) - Dallas-Fort Worth, TX - 27 November 2017
Metrics driven. Managers don't care about their employees. Poor morale. High turnover. Zurich needs new management to lead the office instead of managers with no leadership skills.
Pros
Pto and work from home
Cons
Heavy workload and micromanaging

Jobs at Zurich Insurance
Claims Adjuster positionsThink twice
WORKERS COMPENSATION CLAIMS ADJUSTER -NJ, NY, VA (Current Employee) - Parsippany, NJ - 15 November 2017
Im tired, stressed, and unhappy. Working in a stressful environment as such takes a toll on your personal life. Zurich promotes a healthy work/life balance and they still pile work on you making it impossible to achieve any of their set goals.

Great Comapny picnics when it was Maryland Casualty then everything chainged.
Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) - Baltimore, MD - 10 August 2017
*Typical work day - reviewed emails, address files on diary, return all calls within the same day. Contacted insured and claimants within 24 hours on new claims. Addressed existing claims.
*Learned - Dissecting a policy and coverage. Completing Reservation of Rights letters. Computer system, Case Law
*Management - ????????????
*Workplace Culture - Great Co-workers- Too high of a claims pending
*Hardest part of the job - Pending too high and not enough adjusters
Not enough Reserve authority to get a claim settled when it should have been.
*Most enjoyable - my co-workers and the clients.
Pros
Learned so much about the policy & coverage. They did help so much in getting licensed in P&C
Cons
Short staffted all the time.

Low Morale
Workers' Compensation Claim Adjuster (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - 6 December 2016
Typical day includes handling anywhere from 150-175 claims. Most do not enjoy their job here. Upper management does not listen/care about the lower employees.

A great place to work!
Claims Adjuster (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 3 December 2015
I was welcomed as a part of the team from day one, and the supportive environment amongst my co-workers has not changed. The management is excellent and does not micro-manage. Finally, I am given a chance to make decisions and supported when I am right and effectively coached on how to make better decisions if I should happen to make an error. I would recommend working for Zurich as I am happy to be here!

Department management
Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) - Overland Park, KS - 17 August 2015
Please ask how long the team manager whom you will be working for has been in that position, if less that two years RUN!. Its hard to get assistance when your team manager is working from home or some where in the building instead of their desk especially when your one of five new employee's. Not receiving training or when you receive two PDF emails about one of Zurich programs for vehicle coverage is not training. When you are told to call co-workers by your team manager with a question you then know how that deer feels with those headlights in their eyes. You get to work weekends to stay-up with required training luckily not allowed to work on Sunday due to maintenance on the computers. OP KS has a cafeteria that opens at 7am so you can have breakfast when you get to work early every weekday. You can eat your breakfast and lunch at your desk while staying current with emails and voicemails. Kansas City is a small insurance company town compared to St. Louis MO, but look at AIG, Travelers, Allstate, Progressive, American Family or join Zurich, sit at you desk all day and not communicate with anyone talk to anyone for eight hours Zurich might be for you. NOTE* they have really short cubicles so you need to whisper when on the phone which is kind of strange.

Competent management needed
Claims Adjuster (Former Employee) - Atlanta, GA - 29 April 2013
I was very disappointed in the management team in the office. It seems that the focus is numbers only; not making sure that ALL the employees are happy and not just a select few; and the select got what they wanted and left.
Higher level adjusters have resigned because the work load is so heavy which leaves other adjusters vulnerable and have to shoulder the blame for decisions both upper and middle management have made. The brokers are allowed too much input in claims activity and Zurich will not back its employees. We had really good employees and management ran them away to the point of a skeleton crew. If you want to have the proper tools to do your job and learn at the same time, Zurich is not the place. They promise the moon but do not deliver.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
Low morale; Management
