Great place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
This is a wonderful company to work for. The people are friendly and down to earth. It's a very team focused atmosphere and management is always accessible and supportive. They also throw the best staff parties in town. Our stampede party had a mechanical bull!

Love my role

In my 18 year career, this role is by far the best and most rewarding I have been involved with. I am involved in the recycling portion of junk removal. We have clear and achievable goals and targets and are basically given the freedom to get the job done. I am by no means my own boss, but the way the job is laid out it kind of feels like I am, which I love. As we recycle as much as possible from the junk removal side, it really gives you that great purpose and satisfaction to want to come into work everyday and make a difference. I personally find the culture great here. My manager is very approachable and I can basically talk to him about anything, and same goes with everyone from truck team members to the owner. I will say this, management are very ambitious yes which is understandable but as long as you work hard you will have no problem progressing here. I am by no means the smartest guy, but I work hard and try to improve not just myself but the company as a whole and I feel like I am rewarded for this consistently. I also find the job very flexible in terms of days/hours to meet my needs. I have a young child and sometimes I may need to come in later or leave earlier for appointments, childcare issues or sickness etc... Not a problem! As long as you are upfront they are very understanding in these situations.Overall I love it here and I couldn't see myself working anywhere else right now.

Pros

Own boss, achievable goals, helping the environment, flexible hours

Cons

Outdoors, Winter

be challenged to be the best version of yourself, constantly learning new tools and working in a fun multicultural team

Coming from a manufacturing background, it took me a bit to get used to managing a Customer Service Business..I have been working in this company for a few years at this point in a Manager Position; at the beginning there were quite a few challenges but once you learn how all the moving pieces affect the daily outcomes the job got significantly easier. It is quite interesting the diversity of the scenarios & clients we help on a daily basis. If you like to have a job where you are going to be challenged to be the best version of yourself, constantly learning new tools and working a multicultural team, you will just fit right in.

Pros

Great work environment.

Indecisive ownership and unrealistic expectations

Always massively understaffed with tons of call ins. Every single day is a scramble for the few who do call in sick. They are always left to work 15 hour shifts. Salaried staff are expected to work extremely long shifts and not get bonuses, OT or any awards or rewards. Most of the time it comes with no appreciation whatsoever. Extremely disorganized. Every day they overbook their trucks which leaves the understaffed office staff scrambling every day with cancellations and delayed appointments. Do not apply here if you value work / life balance as any day you are scheduled it is impossible to make plans. Even 5 hours after your shift is supposed to be over. People are hurting themselves at work all the time but I feel it has more to do with not wanting to work such long understaffed and under-appreciated shifts with no additional compensation or respect given.

Pros

None

Cons

Very long hours. Zero appreciation. Hostile environment, resentment from ownership for existing, several people call in sick every single day

Awful Management Culture

Terrible place to work. Local franchise owner is incompetent and is constantly turning over management TEAMS. No job stability, and constant pressure from management to hit increasing revenue targets despite years of decreased profits.

Pros

It was a paying job

Cons

Terrible hours, no job security, terrible work culture

Poor culture

The worst work environment I've ever experienced. An unforgettable balance of demands and appreciation. Staff turnover is unbelievably high in all positions and for very good reasons. Management and ownership leadership is very poor. People dont like working here.

Look at dates reviews were created

They skew the reviews, as they make most people create reviews while they are working there. I had one and will now write an honest review. This place is misleading to employees and clients. All reviews seem to be in April 2022, not a coincidence. Some office staff were great. You work a lot of hours and don't get compensated fairly if you are on salary. The job was easy but time consuming on some menial tasks. It is a dirty environment, as they deal with junk. Don't get me wrong, there were nice people there, it was mainly 2 people that make real decisions, and let you go, if you try to change anything. The trucks are a roll of the dice to get a working one.

Pros

Some free food. Good deals on items.

Cons

Long hours. No overtime pay. Poor management. No career. Equipment. Organization.

everyday is different and fun

Working behind a desk inside an office cubicle is not my type por job! Here I move during my shift, every day is different... and the time fly (it really does).Don't get me wrong, some days are physically demanding and exhausting, some other days there is literally a walk in the park.. if you are looking for a job, that will challenge you physically and mentally (you need to learn how to move stuff around, been efficient and learn how the business works this is your opportunity
