So nice to work for a company that is expanding and wants to make sure people are happy. New management is working on making this a great place to be.

Student Advisor (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 August 2022
Poor management, qualified Managers?! No way!!!! No. Salary minimum wage, leaders not educated! It’s just a company to have Canadian experience in education.

Administrative Manager (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 30 May 2022
Working at Yorkville University has been an amazing experience. There is a very supportive and friendly work environment throughout all three campuses. All management, faculty, and staff are encouraging and willing to learn new things and/or teach you new things. I absolutely recommend applying!

Many teachers coming and going.
Faculty (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 25 April 2022
High turnover of teaching staff. It seems as if new people are added every term. Students are the same as community college students in Ontario. After a while it becomes easier, once you realize that many other teachers do not fully read what students give them, and students only care that they not fail

I enjoy working at Yorkville University. I feel valued and respected. I am on a series of 3-month contracts. There are many foreign students.
Prefer not to say (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 9 January 2022
This is the best job I have ever had. I find it to be challenging but rewarding financially and intellectually. It is a new university and has growing pains but rapid growth. My boss is friendly and we use technology to the fullest.
Pros
Room for creativity and good use of technology
Cons
Sudden changes to work circumstances and last-minute changes.

Poorly managed with a senior leadership that includes a Senior VP with no marketing experience or related academic credentials in marketing.
Rather not say (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 4 November 2021
Not the kind of company skilled and qualified professionals should be associated with. A company should put in place leadership that is actually qualified.
Pros
Can’t think on any.
Cons
Too many to list.

Would not recommend unless you are applying for a management role
International Enrollment Advisor (Former Employee) - Steeles, ON - 3 November 2021
Advisors do most of the work yet they make the least amount of money. Little to no opportunity for advancement or internal promotion. Supervisors and managers are dismissive and don't take suggestions well
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
No pay increase for advisors

Great coworkers but weak leadership
N/A (Former Employee) - New Westminster, BC - 24 October 2021
There is a lack of trust as management says all the right things but does not act on it. Poor management causes employees to quit by a high-stress environment and poor training. Management is not willing to increase the salary of the employees and would rather let them go than increase the pay. NO professional growth in the company, management is not letting you grow within a company. The company doesn't have an annual performance review - employees don't have a chance to negotiate their salary or any kind of working conditions. (tricky contract - be careful, nothing can be changed after singing it) You can get an extra week of vacation only after 5 years of working within a company - rediculous
Pros
flexibility
Cons
Management, benefits & salary

University is growing but they don't care about old employers
Program Advisor (Former Employee) - Vaughan, ON - 27 August 2021
Poor salary and benefits. Management people are the worst. Work ethics zero. Company politics at its worst! Supervisors are unhelpful. Older employees get less salary than the newer one in the same role! How ridiculous! Growing opportunity is too low.
Pros
Wfh
Cons
No overtime pay but you'll have to work 9 hours a day

Toxic Work Environment
Staff (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 25 June 2021
Management expects staff to go beyond their job description by a mile. Management rather let go of staff than increase their pay or position title after years of extensive service. Management expects to continuously work overtime without pay or time in lieu. The staff is wonderful is upside but management drains you, burns you out and then is passive aggressive when you mention the issues and says “then you should leave”.
Pros
Staff connections
Cons
Management

Professional and friendly work environment
Part-time Faculty, BBA (Current Employee) - Concord, ON - 26 April 2020
The company has a very supportive management team with family-like work culture. Onboarding included a training program which was really useful. It is easy to meet and communicate with management. Classrooms are good and well-equipt.
