Activity Leader in Vancouver

Lots of room for personal development
Great way to learn and have fun, become a leader. Connect with creativity and learn from kids and other staff. Split shift is great for getting things done but sometimes can be exhausting going back and forth

Bad Management
Child Care Centres always short staff or no staff. Their program often has more than 5 children need extra support or challenging behaviours. Management is horrible, during a year, there were 11 staff quitted their position due to lacking of support and too many responsibilities.

Fun workplace!
I enjoyed working for the Y and would love to work again for the company if i I ever move back to Sunshine Coast. Management is very supportive. Highly recommend this workplace where you feel belonged.

Management shapes the job culture
I can only speak to the department I am in as I don't have much interaction with other departments or other managers beyond my own. However for my department, I can say that the job culture is healthy and one of the best I have seen. Management uses empathetic leadership and everyone seems to genuinely want others to succeed. Overall a great job with fair benefits and an emphasis on work-life balance. The ability to advance and move up is possible but I am not sure if it is easy as I have only been with the company less than a year.

High turnover, under staffed, poor pay, rarely room to grow
Lots of staff quit/burn out because of the workload. Understaffed, lots of ot and no lunch breaks because of ratio needs. Bullying among staff is swept under the rug, or staff are simply transferred. There is little to no accountability. Early Years management are awful, never around to support or listen to concerns. Only plus is benefits, paid sick time. It is being abused though because managers are never around to do their job.
