WSP Employee Review
Underpaid and Overworked EIT
Geotechnical Engineer (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 17 December 2022
I was part of Golder Acquisition. Employees make the company and work environment, I've never seen the quality of work go to down the drain so quickly as Golder staff started leaving. WSP upper management doesnt care about employee retention, priority is stockholders>employees. WSP's own PMs are short sighted and don't work with the team, chasing budgets and bad proposals which pressures the Juniors. I have been told to not charge 14 hour days even if I've worked been on site that long. Half the team has resigned and found better jobs/better pay/better environment. Half my paycheck goes to rent. Great if you're just starting out as they will hire anyone due to staffing issues but after they train you, you can leave for better oppurtunities and better pay. Running joke in the team is that WSP is a revolving door.
Pros
Golder team provides great training but they are all leaving
Cons
Unaffordable to work for WSP, revolving door.

Great place to work with many friendly employees. WSP Group Inc. is a very well known international engineering firm that allowed me to learn and develop my knowledge in the engineering field.

Exciting projects, constantly changing culture
Specialist (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 6 September 2022
Due to constant mergers and acquisitions, the culture and leadership is ever changing. It is a rather unstable of a workplace in this way - you never know if you will be laid off or have job security or gain a toxic leader. On the flip side, the company works on exciting projects and the people are generally friendly and nice overall. I can’t speak for the current leadership as it’s a revolving door.
Pros
Flexibility, exciting projects, global firm
Cons
Unstable
