Stressful and unrewarding work with disorganized management. Fun co-workers!
Cabinet Maker (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 13 November 2021
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe bad. Woodrose Woodworking lacks organization, which makes it a hectic and stressful place to work. One owner is emotionally unpredictable and often lashes out at employees. You never know if you're going to be belittled or otherwise yelled at when you ask a question regarding a project, often in front of your co-workers. They pretend to value their employees but actually don't care at all beyond what you can do for them. You will receive no thanks at all for doing a good job, staying late, or going the extra mile. It's hard to learn at woodrose since you may be stuck doing one job your whole time there and the cabinet makers are too overworked to teach. The foreman often makes inappropriate comments and gestures about workers, particularly women. Now the good! They are very good about granting time off for vacations beyond the two week standard. You can use the shop for personal projects after a 3 month probationary period. The wages can be good but you'll need to fight for every dime year after year. Some of the people working in the shop are very funny, talented, and considerate.

Everyone is out for themselves
APPRENTICE (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 2 May 2019
Teamwork isn't a word that is understood there. The shop floor was very hostile, and long-time staff look for ways to get new people in fired.
There was no foreman, (no one would have listened to one anyways) and since the staff/and management didn't communicate with anyone else, projects were a nightmare to see from start to finish.
Something else I found aggravating was the operator would sometimes run CNC back to back, cause he didn't want to unload it. This would then hold up the whole shop cause there was no work. And he got away with it cause he was family to the owner.
Management didn't hold anyone accountable for anything, just a lot of blame tossing.
Cons
Bad environment
