I feel like they don’t care about home care workers
Home care (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 13 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe most enjoyable part of my job are my clients. Workplace culture, what is that??? Hard to say about workplace culture. They don’t care about us. The management is weak.

Point Douglas Seniors Resource Coordinator (Term) (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 11 June 2018
its a welcoming community, not enough work to go around though. Some girls stayed ten years to reach full time status. The people you served always knew your name and said thank you
Pros
nice community
Cons

WRHA Home Care
Resource Coordinator (term) (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 8 June 2018
A typical day at work was very hectic, stressful and a challenge in working with archaic and non-user friendly software. Scope of the job was too broad and made for inefficient performance. As a result; the position in the organization experiences a very high employee turnover rate accompanied by job dissatisfaction and burnout.

Dialysis Technologist (Current Employee) - Manitoba - 31 May 2018
Great place to work. Lots of job security and pay is decent. Work here if you have the opportunity but be prepared for lots of travel and tough working conditions. Good health is required.

Not a great place to work
Medical Office Assistant (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 29 May 2018
Salary is adequate, above average. WRHA is a corporation that does not seem too interested in their front-line workers and what they have to put up with within their own offices. Management plays favourites, is aware of gossiping and bullying and back stabbing but turns a blind eye to it. Hardest part of the job is dealing with the supervisory and management staff. Most enjoyable part of the job is the clients.
Pros
Wages
Cons
Management and supervisors

Coworkers are great, job can be stressful
Manager (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 10 May 2018
The team of people on the management level are great to work with. It takes a certain type of individual to work in health care. Issues often arising is the lack of accountability with the employees. The pay is average. And there are constant changes in management policy and process, to the point where it can be quite frustrating.

Enjoy taking full time care
In home Support Worker (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 27 January 2018
It gave me a chance to fully use all of my cooking techniques and 24 hour care provided to a disability person with great challenges. It was very rewarding to be able to care and provide for a person who has these day to day challenges in life.

High Stress with minimal reward
HomeCare Nursing Resource Coordinator (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada - 8 January 2018
The organization is currently undergoing a redistribution of nursing services, scaling back on RN services while attempting to "manage to budget" with LPN wages. Highly toxic working environment at present time.

Great Company
Payroll Support Clerk (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 12 December 2017
This is a very large company but is great to work for. So much room for advancement and loads of opportunity in learning new parts of the job. It is an enjoyable place to work and treats employees with fairness.

My team leader was a bully
In-Home Caregiver (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 30 October 2017
I can't review WRHA honestly because I didn't work directly for them. I was hired through someone else who worked for them, and unfortunately my experience was terrible. She was a bully who insisted I work hours that weren't optional for me, and would claim on payroll that she had worked hours that I had actually covered for her. In the end I left my position here because of this terrible supervisor.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Everything except the pay

Enjoyable conversations with people
Health Care Aide/Home Care Attendant (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 20 October 2017
Arriving at a clients home to provide care that they ned to stay in their home. Interacting with them and possible family members. Needing to be friendly and compastionate. Good customer Srvice skills is an asset. The worst part of the job is finding a client has died and you having to take care of that. Also because you are working alone and depending how long you have been working with that client it makes their death very hard on you emotionally.
Pros
Friendly Atmosphere
Cons
Having a client die

great pay, good benefits
Licensed Practical Nurse (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 11 October 2017
A typical day for me would start at 630 am seeing diabetics in the community assisting with taking fasting blood sugars then administering their insulin based on drs orders, them oral meds, or wounds. I was a community nurse in my last position so I would go to each clients homes and do nursing duties bases on each clients individual needs, I had to make decisions on my own for the most part using my nursing education and experience but when give a situation that I was unsure of I would contact my nursing resource coordinator or the clients physician for their assistance. I would have to say the most difficult part of my job was at times time management as with ill clients one never knows the state you might find someone in so that might take more time. We were allotted a certain amount of time for each visit so if something was wrong and we needed to spend for example twice the amount of time it would affect the next client and so on. In this case if it became unmanageable we could call our supervisor for some help from other nurses as patient safety is always our number 1 priority. I loved my job, I loved the people, I loved helping people. One day was almost never the same as the day before. It was a great place to work
Pros
self directed, great pay
Cons
long hours, working weekend, stat holidays

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 14 September 2017
WRHA is a fantastic place to work. The staff, management and my colleagues are truly great. It is a healthy environment to work in even when working with such difficult situations in regards to patients health. Would definitely recommend the WRHA to anyone looking for employment.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Seeing so many sick patients in the hospital

Most of the time it's ok
Health Care Aide (Current Employee) - Winnipeg Manitoba - 7 September 2017
It's an ok place to work. I feel management does not listen to their employees. I've seen so much change over the past 20 years and not all good. We no longer have a choice of going into blocks that are unsafe and have a history of violent incidents. I think maybe it's time to look for a different job. The future of homecare is so uncertain as well!!
Pros
Decent hourly wage
Cons
No choice in being sent to unsafe clients
