You can work as many hours as you like whether it be half or full days. In the winter it tends to be opening or closing hours so you have plenty of free time on the mountain. You always get two consecutive days off which is great. You get a 30min lunch break and breaks if needed. The schedule is flexible. The company is amazing at training and supporting progression. You are constantly reviewed and encouraged to develop your skills. This means therapists earn very good tips. Management is organised and supportive. They always try to take on your suggestions, listen and are fair. They are very relatable and accommodating. There is a good balance of being friends and also respect. The team is amazing and very welcoming. The wellness aspect is encompassed through the services and the job. The company cares about its employees and is always provides surprises/perks/benefits to keep us extra happy.

Pros

Good work-life balance, good pay, flexible schedule, central location, friendly team

Cons

No free lunch

The best workplace in Whistler

I have worked for Whistler Day Spa for over 5 years and I have always been excited to go to work. I don't think many jobs can make you feel this happy! The work environment is very positive and friendly. The culture is amazing. If there is a problem, we find a solution! Being in a Manager position, I learned and developed a lot of skills. The owner is a wonderful mentor. We recruit people who are like-minded, passionate about wellness and fun to work with; the team here is awesome! The schedule gives you flexibility to enjoy Whistler, which is so important when you live here. As an employee of Whistler Day Spa, you feel supported and cared for which is can be rare in this town. I can't recommend this workplace enough. I will miss it terribly.

Best experience ever

I have been working for the Whistler Day Spa for over 2 years now and I never, ever had any issue with the job. The management is amazing and makes it so easy! They will always make sure the team is happy and will try to help you for whatever you need. More than a job, it was a true human experience. I am a beautician and I have always been pretty booked, which means it's good money. The slow season is a bit quiet with massages but it does not last long anymore. So keep going if you arrive at that time, trust me it is so worth it during Winter! I consider myself very lucky to have been part of the team and will only work for this Spa if I ever come back to Whistler. The more you stay, the more you get benefits. They will also make the schedule with consideration of your needs and the team will be here to help. They will train you in whatever you need to make sure your comfortable practicing your beautiful job. As a beautician and massage therapist I could not have a better option than the Whistler Day Spa to exerce my profession. I am infinitely grateful.

Pros

Easy schedule, good money, happy place

Cons

I can't think of anything

Amazing work place!

I joined WDS in January 2018 and have loved every minute of it. The owner, management and team of girls are all so welcoming, personable and fun! I didn’t want my time in Whistler to be all work and no play, but management have been so helpful and flexible with the scheduling that the work/life balance has been perfect. I’ve learnt so much in my first receptionist role and being surrounded by a positive group of people has made it such a great experience for me.

Pros

Flexible hours, great benefits, amazing team

Cons

Noisy/difficult hotel guests (rare)

Great place to work! Good management team

I totally enjoyed my time at WDS! The desk team and management were always supportive, straight forward, and easy to work with. The hotel staff are also supportive and friendly. Great work environment for a small spa in the heart of the village.

Pros

spirit pass, central location, close to the mountain.

Cons

occasional noise issue from the hotel pool outside

Great place to work - flexible hours, great benefits and an amazing team

I joined the Whistler Day Spa team as a Spa receptionist in 2012 and although I was new to the industry, I could not have found a better mentor in the owner. I learned a great deal about what it takes to run a successful business in a competitive environment such as Whistler and how to provide a positive working atmosphere for your team. Many staff members returned year after year for the winter season which I feel was a result of the great leadership and professional attitude of the owner. The flexibility with working hours ensured each staff member enjoyed a good work/life balance while the approach to open communication meant that any ideas were taken on board and also any issues were quickly resolved no matter how small. From the outset, I was made to feel like a valuable member of the team and I would highly recommend WDS as a great place to work.

Pros

Flexible hours, Great pay/benefits package, Positive work atmosphere, Excellent management, Opportunity to learn/improve skills

Great hours, awesome team, terrific boss

I worked for Whistler Day Spa as Reception/Front Desk. I always had good hours and still plenty of time for play on the mountain. The regular clients were great and other staff always fit well into the team. The owner/manager was very approachable, communicated well and was flexible. I made some great life long friends while working here and I would recommend this place as a great place to work :)

Great work environment, great work/life balance!

I applied for a job here after coming here as a guest for over a year. I loved the environment, people and location that I got to know over that time. Since then, I have also began to appreciate the flexibility, and opportunities within the spa. I feel management is always very friendly, approachable and understanding. For me, it is the ideal job and business for me in Whistler.

Pros

Great work environment and flexibility

Cons

Location of front desk/waiting area within the hotel

Fantastic place to work!

I worked at WDS as a massage therapist for approx 12 months from 2015 to 2016 and loved it! Super chill boss, flexibility in the schedule, beautiful people as colleagues, and an easy environment in which to work! There is enough time between appointments to get everything done without rushing, nice oils to use in massage appointments (it's the little things!), and I found myself being more relaxed after a day working, it's a great atmosphere.

Friendly, happy work environment

Whistler Day Spa is a great work environment, with reliable work hours for massage or esthetics. It is a small spa and team, but despite turnover from staff, which is unavoidable in a transient community like Whistler, the spa remained a lovely place to work. I felt appreciated and valued, and the manager and supervisors were always approachable and happy to help with anything.
