Demanding and Heavy Workload

Typical workday starts at 8am. You have to come in as early as 7.10am to ensure all requiistes required for operations are there, in working condition before any surgery begins. Orthopaedic surgery are often couple with lots of image intensifer, which is radiation exposure to ensure precision and accuracy. Staff needs to put on lead apron which is heavy to protect them. Major operations like total knee,hip and spine operations can see youreslf using sets that weights more than 5kg, 9 to 12 sets can be a norm and lifting from trollys to trollrys to get them ready for operation. Such surgery are usually prolong with 3 to 5 hours of standing which is not uncommon. Besides missing meals and urgent bladder, keeping in pace with Surgeon's demand without room for error are not easy.
Day in day out with such heavy workload comes with occupational hazzard such as backache,, shoulder pain, varicose veins, Dequivian Syndrome are not uncommon.
After each day, I felt like a sports car with all tyres being stripped!
The most enjoyable part of the day of course is that at the end of the day, everything went on smoothly and you knew yu have performed a good deed.
