Seems good on surface but doesn’t care about employees
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB16 September 2019
The best part about this job was the travel benefits and the fact that I had health and dental. Management doesn’t care about employees as people and will find anything to discipline you for if they’ve decided they don’t like you.

Decent money but poor management
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB13 May 2019
Money was okay, flexible schedule and great layovers but management was poor. They don't treat their employees well. They encourage tattletale among employees and create chaos. You never know who's your friend or not. People reported petty mistakes.

Great flexibility
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 May 2019
work schedule as a flight attendant is very flexible as you can choose pairing length between 1-5 days and bid for days off. as a mother, having the odd night away was a great benefit to come home feeling refreshed. flight benefits for parents and kids until they are 25 is also a great benefit
Pros
ability to choose work days and times
Cons
being away from home overnight is hard as a mother

Cabin Crew (Former Employee) –  Calgary30 April 2019
Never should have left. Great culture, money was OK and benefits are fantastic. Lots of room to move around, up the ladder or just to another department to try something new.

A dynamic culture
Cabin Crew (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON20 April 2019
A fast-paced, quickly evolving company. If you like change, it's a great place to be. The pay isn't as competitive compared to other companies, and instead of a pension, there is a competitive stock-matching option
Pros
Flexible, great stock-matching option, fast-paced
Cons
Change fatigue, pay is lower compared to comparable positions at other companies

General
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON22 February 2019
WestJet is a great startup company. They pay for you to commute if you live in a different province which is great considering a good chunk of their employees live in Montreal. They offer good travel privileges, if you ever get enough days off to actually use them. Like many airline companies, a typical work day can start anywhere from a 3am wake-up call to a 6pm wake up call. Sometimes you are lucky enough to finish at noon and enjoy the city you are in and other times you finish at 5am and go to bed at 6am after eating dinner/breakfast. Some days can go smoothly and others are filled with back to back delays and drama. One thing that helps with those tough days is seeing a cute baby or an emotional support animal that the owner will allow you to hang out with and take pictures. You will encouter a lot of friendly people to work with but a lot of drama as well since management and the company ecourages tattle telling on fellow employees, which in return, creates a hostile environment.

Meeting cute babies/Cute animals

Pay is horrible for how much you work!
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB17 February 2019
Your co workers are pretty amazing! Other than that, I would try AC. The pay is horrible. It’s near impossible to have a second job because of our schedules. Management is disorganized and, quite frankly, unprofessional. It continues to go downhill.
Pros
Co workers
Cons
No money, less than minimum, took away flight benefits. Never home. Management

Better places to work
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON25 January 2019
It's not the worst airline to work for but you can definitely get much better pay, benefits and treatment from other companies. Management is absolutely horrible but the people you work with daily are awesome for the most part so that takes away from the headache of the constantly changing service standards and policies. They are expanding and possibly bitting off more than they can chew.

They preach about how WestJet is a family in the beginning but you will quickly learn that you are just a number and easily disposable to them as with any other typical big corporation.

Of course as with any airline, the ability to travel is a big plus. Additionally, I will say what WestJet offers that other airlines like Air Canada don't, is the option to commute so you're not forced to chose between moving and having a job. It can be tiresome but worth it if you have the patience.

Overall, not terrible, it's a job....But if you want to pay
your bills, have a life and have management you actually like and they treat you with kindness and respect....exercise other options first.
Pros
Per diem, travel, nice coworkers
Cons
Management, low pay, management

Nice benefits, dental, medical, flight perks, stock options, constant change, poor upper management and low morale
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB22 January 2019
The company overall offered longevity for the right employee and decent advancement opportunities. Upper management seemed to be ever changing. Also all guidelines, policies and customer offerings inflight were constantly under review and changing; exhausting really.

This job can be a lifestyle if you want it to be. The money will not be good for the first 5 years and you will work hard. But you cannot beat the travel benefits.

For what we do, I feel like we don't get compensated nicely. I say great marketing team but they need to work on treating the employees better. Often work holidays and hours are never consistent. Fun experience when I first started, but I need more stability and I need to be home more often.

Fun company, cool history
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB23 June 2018
Worked as a flight attendant for two years. Really enjoyed the work, met great coworkers and customers. A bit repetitive but you can see that as something to perfect.
Being a flight attendant is definitely a lifestyle as it requires you to be away from home for half of your time. If it can work for you, it's a blast!

Fly the skies
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB30 May 2018
Fly people from A to B to visit family or friends, go for work, the good the bad and the ugly.
Workplace culture is usually pretty high, but in recent months it is a bit tense with a unionization looming.

The benefits and flexibility of this job are a huge bonus, and will be very hard to give up. The wonderful people I meet on a day to day basis are interesting, unique and wonderful.

It is stressful and tough being away from the family for work, and that is the reason I am making a career change. 11 plus years ago, this job was perfect for my lifestyle.

I love the benefits, cheap travel is a huge bonus attached to this job, family travel will not be financial feasible from now on!
Pros
Cheap travel, great health benefits and profit share
Cons
tough hours, not enough pay

Worst company to work for
Flight attendant (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON29 May 2018
They allowed co-worker to send you physical threats without firing them. Flight attendants drink on the job from the bar in the airplane and a lot of them smoke weed.
