Westjet hires the most amazing like minded people.
CSA Customer Service Agent (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB21 October 2019
Because of Westjet’s ability to hire smart caring team oriented and like minded people, they remain successful and attractive to prospective employees and the guest experience. Not actually sure how some employees are able to survive on the wage however the benefits are excellent.

Opportunities to travel
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB24 September 2019
Best perk is the travel, second best is the 20% Employee Share Purchase Plan, third is Profit Share! The hours as a flight attendant can be very long, so a flexible attitude is critical.

Seems good on surface but doesn’t care about employees
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB16 September 2019
The best part about this job was the travel benefits and the fact that I had health and dental. Management doesn’t care about employees as people and will find anything to discipline you for if they’ve decided they don’t like you.

Stressful/Underpaid
Ground Operation/ TAC (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB15 September 2019
There are way to many mangers & none of them are there to help you or have your back. The work load is ridiculous and stressful. They downsized the crews and ask for you to do more work. WCB is higher. Pay sucks. Need another job to make ends meet. Must bid for your schedule every 6 weeks. Your co-workers are great for the most part. In the beginning I loved working there.

Fun workplace, poor management structure however.
Bagroom Ambassador/TAC Agent (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB11 September 2019
Get to work with tons of amazing people, get to work outdoors. Have to put up with an excess of middle management positions that make it difficult to realistically effect change.

Sale Super Agent (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB4 September 2019
Answer emails from guests and respond to their concerns. The goal is to retain them as a guest and also meet the needs of the business. I ensure I have all the details prior to answering in order to provide a complete fair answer.

Every day brings a new challenge and opportunity to step up. I have learned how to work with all personality types in my role and how to effectively communicate with all.

Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB2 September 2019
It was a decent place to work and I was very happy for the job experience. I learned a lot about the airline industry and the culture was a breath of fresh air from previous companies.

Was a great place to work until Upper Level Management began cutting and cutting, more and more work being added on but no increase in pay or benefits.

So much potential
Head of Digital Operations and Creative Services (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB29 July 2019
Glad to see the company sold. It needs an overhaul. Great company with so much potential. Unfortunately, hiring for personality over talent has left them talentless and no one around to train for skill.
Pros
Good people
Cons
Inefficient work

dishonest managers, long hours with no breaks, no respect, favoritism, "leaders" who deliberately set you up for failure
Crew Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB24 July 2019
Minimal and inadequate training for the job expectations. Minimal pay for the job expectations. Work 10 and 12 hour shifts without a break. If you have time, filling a water bottle, heating food to bring back to the desk to eat as you work, and going to the washroom are permitted, but do NOT leave for a coffee or lunch break (unless you are one of the "favorites") and do NOT speak up about this. You are expected to show up 15 minutes prior to shift start time, you do not get paid for this time. Managers will be dishonest in the interview, hiring and training process, then you you get "on the desk" and get a huge wake up call (unless you are one of the "favorites"). Being set up for failure by the people who are supposed to be your leaders and your support (the chiefs) is extremely disheartening. The happy-go-lucky "owners" portrayed in the advertising for this company are nowhere to be found in this department. Many people who work on the same floor will not even make eye contact in the hall, stairway or parking lot. Most of them appear to be desperately unhappy in their jobs. I took a huge pay cut to go to this job because I believed it was an extremely positive environment. Now I am unemployed and broke, but at least I still have my sanity and my health.

Fun to work but garbage pay and hours
Westjet Airlines TAC Agent (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB29 May 2019
Ramp Agent in westjet (TAC) Its a good place to work for awhile but nothing long term. The pay is drastically lower then other airlines for the physicality of work. They try to make up for it in benefits but a number of changes that have happened lately have made it less and less of good place to work

Decent money but poor management
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB13 May 2019
Money was okay, flexible schedule and great layovers but management was poor. They don't treat their employees well. They encourage tattletale among employees and create chaos. You never know who's your friend or not. People reported petty mistakes.

Minimum Wage job
Turn Around Crew (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB9 May 2019
This job pays you $15/h with a rotating bidding 6 weeks schedule. which means you have to bid for a 6 weeks schedule not knowing when your'e going to work next month. Makes it very difficult to plan anything.

Yes they do offer cheap flights, however they don't pay you enough to be able to afford them. If you do end up going you have to find someone to cover your shifts, which is sometimes impossible.

TAC is truly a dead end job. Most people working there lack motivation to move up within the company or outside of TAC. They have become content.

The employees are a revolving door, one out 4 coming in.

One employee told me when I started "Minimum Wage= Minimum effort".

Cheap Flights

Minimum pay, schedule

Great flexibility
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 May 2019
work schedule as a flight attendant is very flexible as you can choose pairing length between 1-5 days and bid for days off. as a mother, having the odd night away was a great benefit to come home feeling refreshed. flight benefits for parents and kids until they are 25 is also a great benefit
Pros
ability to choose work days and times
Cons
being away from home overnight is hard as a mother
