Good benefits, no training offered
Rather not say (Current Employee) - Lower mainland - 20 July 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedTurnover is crazy, from entry level to mgmt. Corporate structure is disorganized, no one is accountable or offers options and measurable outcomes and solutions. No training for new staff. Experienced staff leave because the hire mgrs with no experience and are not accountable

Horrible place!
Academic Coordinator (Former Employee) - Victoria, BC - 22 August 2023
Here are pros and cons to working for them. Pros: 1. Decent salary. Cons: 1. Poor management. 2. The staff is not supportive. They back stab at the first chance they get. 3. High turnover because staff is not provided proper direction. 4. Managers gossip behind your back with other staff (happened to me and my colleague). 5. Staff was fired without any due process (found out through personal contacts with the staff members). 6. No decent workplace culture. Everyone is phoney. 7. Complained to HR and they did nothing. 8. No training provided when started and then they complain work is not being done.

Great team and culture
Rehabilitation Service Specialist (Former Employee) - New Brunswick - 18 August 2023
Culture was great on the team I worked with. I was disappointed that there was little flexibility with hours as we had to be available 830-430 to align with VACs regular office hours. We were also not provided some stat holidays based on provincial standards, which meant we worked when VAC was unavailable yet had to be available for VACs standard office hours which was contradictory. Benefits were limited and only available after 3 months. Policies and procedures consistently changing which led to delays and confusion.

Project Management (Former Employee) - Remote - 1 August 2023
The management is so bad..management fires employees to replace them by their own family or friends. All employees at the top are protected because they are in the same circle.

Great Benefits but Not Worth It
Employment Consultant (Former Employee) - Central Okanagan, BC - 22 February 2023
I'll start with the positive. Decent pay, great benefits, generous vacation. This job was significant to me in my career and personal development. I would have liked to stay with WCG for much longer. However, the work environment was extremely toxic and not ideal for my mental health. This was an unfortunate pattern and seemed to effect a great deal of my colleagues. Though these issues have been brought to management time and time again, it would usually come down to employees "not managing time effectively." The expectations I personally faced in this role was to manage a caseload of 80-120 clients, complete 10 new intakes a week, and see all 'active' clients (not currently involved in other interventions) biweekly. Without years of experience managing this number of clients, this expectation baffled me. When I brought concerns forward, I was often faced with managers saying that they were able to manage it when they were in my position, so there was no reason that I couldn't manage it as well. Not helpful. I heard many of the same complaints from my colleagues. I would find myself stressed, overwhelmed, and frustrated 90% of the time. My health suffered significantly and I understood why stress leaves were common in this catchment. I can't speak for the organization as a whole, but my experience especially in the last 6 months of my role in the Central Okanagan was very negative and has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Pros
Decent pay, great benefits, generous vacation
Cons
Poor training, high stress, unhelpful management, poor communication

WorkBC is a very stressful place to work at and management is useless
Employment Consultant (Current Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 10 December 2022
You are expected to do everything (including bringing work home) and you are getting paid very average salary without any over time. Benefits are good, vacation time is good, and having a paid Birthday off is good. HR seemed nice, but management is not interested in your opinion. If you have any issues or concerns then go figure it out on your own. No matter how much and how hard you work management will still tell you are not doing enough. You will not feel supported from them. There is also a huge turn over of people and staff is not getting trained properly. Lack of staff is a huge issue too. Staff (very few who are still there) were great and really helpful tho.
Pros
Business hours, paid Birthdays off, benefits
Cons
Poor management, very understaffed team

Most Supportive Management
Employment Counsellor (Current Employee) - Coquitlam, BC - 9 June 2022
I am currently employed, and I have to say it's one of the best companies I have ever worked for. As a Employment Consultant, the job can be very stressful. However, the culture of the company and the management puts the employee's well being first. The company offers various opportunities for growth, good benefits, and competitive compensation compared to other sub contractors.

Get your experience and move on
Employment Consultant (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 3 June 2022
***INEXPERIENCED SITE MANAGERS*** Inexperienced staff (no relevant experience in social services needed, but this comes down to the site manager having zero management experience and hiring based on a vibe verse skills and qualifications) Staff that don't perform well get 'protected' by management, feedback from staff not taken seriously Lack of training, from day 1 to ongoing. Staff beg for training and nothing is done. Training for new hires put on staff and there's no incentives, this is a lot of work and takes away from case management All about 'numbers' and meeting targets, nothing else matters. They say they're client centered but they aren't. Micromanaging and favoritism by management Voicing your concerns is pointless, management doesn't care Staff unclear about their roles Constant changes and additional tasks put onto staff without any incentives Top employee performers get no incentive aside from 'pat yourself on the back' Many internal issues that are embarrassing to say the least, a lot of things weren't shorted out when I started and we didn't have clients. For example, we didn't have resume templates until well over a year in. I can't wait to put in my resignation.
Pros
Business hours, most staff were great, benefits, vacation time, you get your birthday off paid, HR is great and so is upper management
Cons
Inexperienced site managers, harrassment from co-workers, low salary, interview process is very long, expect to wait months before finding out if you're successful or not, and high turnover

Bullying by Management / bureaucratic
Employment Specialist (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 5 May 2022
Expectations of deliverables did not match the resources required or the change in the labour market due to Covid. It's all about selling job vacancies and meeting Govt. targets but built around old IT systems, pre-pandemic job market targets and old working practices. Micro-management is at its highest with a bullying culture. Day-to-day colleagues were nice. High staff turnover though.

Stressful work environment with poor management, little to no support for on the job training. Bullying tactics heavily used by management. High rate of staff turnover.
Pros
Most coworkers were great
Cons
Workplace harassment and bullying from the uppers

WorkBC Contractors: high pressure sales expectations combines with a highly bureaucratic workplace, Talk "service" but push "production"
Employment Consultant (Former Employee) - Chilliwack, BC - 5 January 2022
WCG contracts to WorkBC, operating a number of their community store-fronts. They value themselves as being one of the better contractors in the industry. Perhaps. But compared with other overall businesses and government departments they fall short. The combination is a bad mix. The nature of their contracting combines with the high degree of government bureaucratic weight to create a very high stress, high-pressure distasteful work environment. That said, many of the people working there are great to work with. If not for them and their commitment to serve people the work environment would be worse.
Pros
Generally a great peer team. Good work hours (M-F, days, 7.5 hrs). Clean work environment.
Cons
Poor on-the-job training for new hires, high pressure sales expectations to "sell jobs", combines with a high bureaucratic (computer/database) load - strange bedfellows, Bosses daily/weekly monitoring staff "KPI's" and forcing them to meet "Ministry" contractual numbers, "Open" work environment is intrusive and counterproductive

Great team members and work environment
Employment Counselor (Former Employee) - Chilliwack, BC - 24 June 2020
Workplace and culture was great. The hardest part of the job was the amount of administration and data quality required. Great management team but the pressure to perform is not realistic.
Pros
The pay is decent
Cons
Admin heavy and pressure to fulfill monthly quotas
