Moral sucks

Inexperienced managers in a very top down culture make for bad working environment: so people leave which increases the workload for those left there. Staffing shortages abound and burnout is high. Staff are very clicky all say they want to help but refuse too. Training is not good.

None really

alot to many to list

Cult like; just keep smiling and telling everyone it's going great, despite the mountains of work that keeps being thrown at you.

Ability to work from home. 5 personal days.

No work life balance; cult like culture. Upper management don't understand, nor care about the front lines.

Toxic and Notorious for Bullying

Most toxic place to work. Employees are all miserable and the morale is depressing. Micromanaged to the point of nervous breakdowns. Managers are useless, can’t coach or mentor, don’t trust employees and are lacking in overall skill. Bullying is rampant here. Never seen anything like it. Very toxic, directors and VP’s play favourites, several managers only promoted to those positions based on seniority but have no idea how to actually direct staff. Ridiculed in the workplace for the same mistakes a manager makes. The politics are insane at the executive level. This whole coming needs an overhaul and hopefully staff will speak up about the bullying. Save your soul, don’t work here.

Everything else, stay away!

They went through an incredible digital transformation, but they also need to transform their culture.

It is an old company trying to catch up with the digital world by adopting new and exciting technologies, so there is a lot of IT projects going on; this makes them the perfect place to learn new tools and technologies. The company's only issue is the lack of opportunities for non-Canadian; they talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, but in reality, anybody's origins and accent is a glass ceiling in Wawanesa.

Pension plan. / Work-life Balance / Learning environment

Old boomer culture

Solid job security but don’t expect much respect

Good job, ok benefits and ok work but don’t expect upper mgmt to be on the same page as front line managers. They rarely consult their staff and insist on driving service while grading you on odd factors that are often well out of your control I would give them a higher score based if the culture which is quite positive but the treatment by mgmt just made it difficult.

Good culture, great introductory role

Disconnect from mgmt to front ljne

Don’t miss it

Wawanesa has a culture of “that’s not how Wawanesa does things” They don’t like thinking outside the box or new ways of doing things. If you leave be prepared to be shunned like an Amish teenager who left the colony They will think you broke up with them and be hurt.

Work hours not overtaxing

Cult like atmosphere

Overall the job, culture, people at underwriting team are ok

Everything is alright except the fact that you're on a project based account and ni health coverage, but if you do well in a year then chances of being a regular inreases and they do regularize people that desrves it.

Work, culture, people

No health coverage for non regulars or project based

Great Company

The company itself is wonderful. Great benefits. The computer seems to care about employees, however certain supervisors do not seem to care. The main CON is that the pay is not competitive with other insurance companies in Winnipeg.

Benefits, Work/life balance

Pay is not competitive

A company that gives back to the community!

Wawanesa is a wonderful company to be a part of. Management is amazing - professional and impressively knowledgeable on every level of the industry. Work environment is great with employees who are exceptionally trained in their respective positions. Being the third largest insurance company in Canada, they get their fair share of clients which allows for peace of mind in terms of job security. Wawanesa has multiple programs which allows us to give back to the community. With that being said, Wawanesa is also a company that cares for its employees. They offer wonderful benefits package and competitive salaries. It truly is a great company!

Great Place to work

Great place to work, tight knit smaller office in Dartmouth and very professional leaders who help you exceed and move to new positions. Would recommend.
