Substitute Teacher in Kitchener, ON

Great Place
Thoroughly enjoy working for WRDSB as a sub. They offer competitive wages, although benefits would be nice as a substitute teacher. Lots of opportunities for growth.
DECE in Cambridge, ON

Good board, tough to live with what they pay you as a DECE.
Made some wonderful friends and built great relationships with the people I worked with! The only thing that made me leave the board was the pay unfortunately.

School Board is Very Unsupportive of Elementary Teachers
The school board takes very little interest in what actually happens in the classrooms. The trustees never visit the schools. There is way too much variation in how principals behave, and there is simply no money being spent on learning supplies for the classroom. The people at the top making decisions have no clue what is actually happening in classrooms, and there is way too much emphasis on being politically correct at the cost of ensuring a good learning environment for all students. Why is the province not stepping in to ensure money is actually going to the classrooms regarding books for subject matter?

I loved my position at WRDSB. It allowed me to spend much more time with my Family
25 years of constant change, patience, study, partnerships, community building working with behavioural, developmentaly and or enviromentaly challanged children.I worked many different positions at WRDSB, they were always very busy situations working with children, youths and staff. I was often the primary contact for parents, medical and legal maters for the students on my caseload.
Office Manager/Head Secretary in Kitchener, ON

Progressive and positive environment. Supportive and a great place for life long learners.
WRDSB is one of the best employers in the area. It is a fast paced environment. Offers continual education and training to it's staff. Health and pension benefits are excellent.
