How are company drivers paid? hourly, percentage, mileage or perhaps a combination?

  • Paid by the mile. Lots of things are not paid for like time on pre/post trip inspections, fueling your truck, delivering paperwork, time taken for truck/trailer repairs (unless it takes over 1 hr but it usually get completed in 45 mins, meaning you aren't getting paid for that time). Various other things that take time resulting in no pay. Works out on average that you are working 1.5 unpaid hours per shift if you have a good night.

  • Very low mileage rate.
