Congratulations to our Employees of the Week from last week! Our evening shift ITS maintenance crew in Mt. Vernon was selected: Kenny Mosley, Randall Kennedy, Bradley Pethtel, Josh McDaniel, Ryan Lurker, Caleb Beal, Marion Overton (not pictured) and Tyler Maloney (not pictured). Recently, one of the guys was walking outside of the maintenance shop and noticed smoke coming out from underneath the bunk of one our trucks that was parked outside. He quickly alerted the shift lead and the guys sprung into action. First, they made sure that they ran out and got the driver out of the truck and to safety as he was sleeping. While this was going on, some of the others called the fire department, grabbed fire extinguishers from the shop and hooked a hose up to water to start controlling and putting out the fire. Not only were they able to get the fire under control before the fire department got there, but they were able to get our driver to safety and more than likely saved the truck from being a total loss. They exhibited great teamwork and were able to stay calm and collected during an emergency!
We had our Wilmington summer family picnic this past Saturday at the Joliet Slammers baseball filed in Joliet, IL. Prior to the start of the game, we had a picnic which included hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, chips and soda. The picnic started with rain and more rain; however, prior to the first pitch at 6:05 p.m. the weather had cleared and it was a beautiful night for a ball game! Employees who attended received a nice WSI cooler and for the children that attended received a WSI backpack!
Two of our employees, Shasta Carr (left) and Jessica Delgado (right), attended the Clays for a Cause event at the Evansville Gun Club this past Friday. The event was a benefit for The Ronald McDonald House of the Ohio Valley.
We completed another round of Supervisory Training in Greenville, SC yesterday. We had employees from Burkville, Wilmington, Greenville, Evansville, Liberty, Waterford, Bay St. Louis and Glen Rock. Congratulations to all of the leaders on completing the training course! Also, special thanks to Seth Wade, Peter Craddock and Sean Dobbins for conducting the training!
Warehouse Services, Inc. and Industrial Transport Services will be set up at First Baptist Church (301 Oak Street) in Carmi, IL tomorrow from 9am - 4pm. WSI is looking to fill Production Operator positions in Mt. Vernon, IN. ITS is looking for Class A CDL Drivers. Please bring a copy of your resume with you. We look forward to meeting with you!
Congratulations to our Employees of the Week! Pictured from left to right: Rene Torres, Luther Henderson and Michael Sanders.

Rene has been with WSI for 1 year, Luther for 6 years and Michael for 3 months. All three of these gentlemen work in Piedmont. Recently, we had a truckload of materials shipped out that we had to bring back to the warehouse for inspection. Luther and Rene came in over the weekend on short notice on their day off, along with Michael on the weekend shift to help support the issue. Luther loaded the trailer with materials as they were inspected the same day so that they could be delivered to the customer without service interruption. Rene and Michael worked with the quality team and were able to sort through 4,000 materials on Saturday and Sunday. This sorting was detrimental to the business as we needed materials available for shipment the following Monday. Without these three employees and their dedication to the business, we ran the risk of creating monumental service failures to the customer.
Congratulations to our Employee of the Week from last week, Vicente Avelar!

Vicente is a Material Handler at our Wilmington site and has been with WSI for 2 years. He was recently wrapping up his shift and about to head out to a doctor’s appointment that he had scheduled. Vicente noticed another department was needing assistance with a heavy outbound day, so Vicente called and rescheduled his appointment and then assisted in loading the trailer allowing on-time delivery to the customer. We appreciate his dedication!
We recently held a Safety Slogan contest at our Site Support location in Mt. Vernon. Wesley Dockrey and Jessica Kieffer were our winners! Their posters will be displayed in the Contractor Safety trailer for all contractors on site to see. Congratulations to both of you!
