The management was good (at least in my department), the people I worked with were friendly and helpful. The days were very fast paced, especially during high volume times. I worked as both a Cashier and Customer Service. The hardest part of the job was dealing with really rude customers, there was only so much I could do even with calling the Manager. Another down fall is that when you're a cashier the tills are lower, so if you are taller like me (5'11) your back ends up hurting pretty easily from being a little hunched over all the time, and there is only so much you can do about it. It wasn't a huge deal for me, but for someone else it could be. The most enjoyable part of the job was definitely my co-workers. I still talk to some of my work friends from almost a year ago now. In my opinion, for how much you have to put up with and how hard you work, they don't pay enough. I was making $15.75, and yes that is over minimum wage, it isn't much. And with hours that were all over the place, it is hard to say if it would be a liveable wage. The benefits were nice, if you were able to meet the qualifications.
It’s a great place to help and interact with people and help in any way I can. I enjoy helping and making a earnest day a fulfilling day.
I’ve enjoyed my rule at Walmart when I was their and made friends along the way that I consider family now it’s a great place to start or make a career out of if you choose to go that way for yourself too
Management = Words can not describe how bad (reason I left) People = To be honest, made some good friends here Pay = What do you expect, it's Walmart Work = Easy and repetitive Culture = Negative and depressing Pros: Gained work experience, made some friends Cons: It's Walmart
I loved my job and enjoy working with customers. I take pride in what I did and my coworkers were like family. The downside is no work/family balance. Like 90/10. Lots of room for advancement. Huge mix of associates in age, race and religion. That is the greatest part! Hardest part is the politics....should be fair share of work and it hasn’t been. There should be accountability for this in all levels of responsibility. Too much favouritism!!!
They sell everything in one store and you get 10% discount on almost everything
Long hours and no work/life balance
Typical days were busy, but fulfilling. I learned so much at this job and still use what I learned there to this day. Management was wonderful at helping me learn what I needed for this job and providing continuous support for my needs after I completed my training.
Fun, something new every day, lots of learning experience.
Long hours on your feet, typical customer service problems.
I was hired as cashier but was only a student and didn't get that many hours first when I commenced working there. I checked the schedule and it didn't appear
close to home

In a typical day of work it can go very well or something could go wrong. I have learned how to price match and fix prices, learn all the produce codes. Management always have their work cut out for them but they put in their all to make sure everyone is happy and okay. Management is always there if someone needs to talk and they always have respect for their employees. The hardest part of the job i think is when it becomes really busy and a customer grabs something that doesn't have a tag and all the supervisors are busy at the time, but we always have ways to figure it out.
we have treat days if we go accident free for certain amount of day
stressful some days
Working at wal-mart is what you expect to find at a retail store with average pay and average hours and with a constant influx of new workers and management with various types of competency and varying degree's of customers. Overall a good learning experience and an excellent place to develop social skills.
Free events, employee discounts
changing coworkers, unstable customers, pay
The only part of working for this company that I felt good about was receiving my cheques. Terrible management, uncomfortable work environment and quite lacklustre pay.
Money, Long Breaks
Bad Management, Uncomfortable Work Environment, No Employee Benefits for Part-Time Workers
Avoid if possible, money is decent but the work environment was incredibly negative due to employees as management. They cared more about selling Walmart mastercards, than providing satisfactory customer service.
Work was based around Customer service and stocking inventory on shelves and providing product knowledge to customers. I learned patience with this job. Ultimately a great place to work based on the fact that there was always something to do. Work was never boring. The hardest part of the job would have to be the difficult customers, but as long as you knew how to diffuse a difficult situation then it was overall good.
Fun and friendly environment
