Walmart is a good place to work, having a collaborative, supportive environment, experienced great customer service handling, the customer is the priority, safety at work matters with punctuality.

Sometimes, it's really hard to deal with rude customers and managers. But co-workers are really nice and fun to do work. But workload is too much near Christmas and other holidays.

Bottom of the minimum wage. Overall coworkers were rude and bullies. Work is physically demanding on feet all day and bus service doesn't cover hour requirements. Can't pay rent on wages let alone eat. A LOT OF FAVORITISM AND NEPOTISM.

Worked there while I was in high school to start saving up some money. It did the job, good hours and decent pay. The managment was not the best and this was a popular opinion there.

Stable job security with good pay plus yearly bonus. Management varies from store to store but overall needs more work in how they communicate with employees. Coworkers are great to work with but the customers are the most difficult part. They are very rude. Managment is usually good flexible with schedules. Typically get the time off you request as long as it is not over Christmas.

The management there is horrible. There are around 5 or 6 levels of managers, per store, which doesn't make any sense to me. This doesn't include the upper management team, like the district managers, and so on. My job included unloading a truck for 2 hours, binning, picking, stocking the shelves, pulling pallets to the floor, assisting customers, cleaning up the shelves when they're a mess, and trying to maintain a friendly attitude at the end of the day. All of this while still making minimum wage after almost 3 years. This is the worst company to work for.

Meat Department extremely busy all of the time and difficult to keep up with work load. Majority of the time there is not enough staff on duty in the dept. There are many different tasks that are expected but you can only be in one place at a time. Working on a particular task means that other tasks will either have to wait or not get completed at all. This dept. has a very cooperative, cohesive, helpful and friendly team that labours with diligence to get the job done and always manages to get most tasks done. The majority of the time the dept. manager will mention the tasks that have not been done but rarely mention the many jobs that have been completed which can often be very frustrating however this situation is not unique to Walmart. Being a discount store means that the company must shave all costs to the minimum in order to offer discounted prices to customers and that includes the rate of pay so there is no surprise there. The quality of meat products equals any competitors offerings. Sanitation and safety are promoted and continuously monitored. Do your work to the best of your ability, don't show up for work with an "attitude", help out if possible when asked to cover an extra shift and there is a good chance your manager will work with you to schedule you for your preferred shifts. Once you have three months of employment completed you receive a ten percent discount on purchases. While not huge, ten percent discount helps. The store manager is polite, professional and will never fail to say hello. For a part-time job it seems just fine if that is your desire. Full-time - more...
Pros
Interacion with many nice people both customers and fellow employees.
Cons
Sometimes quite frustrating to attempt to complete tasks that are beyond your control.

Busy retail company where customer demand fluctuates. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you're able to help someone find what they were looking for.

Walmart was a good job as my first job in the Dairy Department. After a while you do get sick of it as the job requires you to go in the freezer and as the new employee you will be forced to go into the freezer by the employees who have been working there before you.
Pros
Breaks and the fact you take them when you want
Cons
Having to do more work as a new employee

walmart is an amazing place to work at. Your are interacting with new and old customers everyday and getting to create conversations all day long as you are working. It is a fast paced environment that requires you to get the job done quickly but in a efficient manner. The employees and employers are all great people to work with!
