I loved this job, I had so much fun everyday I made so many friends and it’s literally like a family there, definitely recommend. It’s not that hard either the training is really good. They also make sure to give you your break.
Time goes by fast there.
I moved, and couldn’t make it.
No matter who you work for, if you work inside the walls of walmart be prepared to be abused! Management don't care, head office doesn't care, & customers treat you like you're dirt... As if you work for them & you're an idiot. Respect has no meaning in this environment.
I worked at Walmart overnight for a year. I was hired for a specific part of the store and trained for that area and randomly they moved me to a different area I had never worked before that I wasn't trained for. When I brought this up they told me "It's the same difference" If it weren't for my friendly co-workers I would have struggled all night not knowing what I was doing. I thought this was a one time thing but multiple times I was thrown into different aisles that worked completely differently without any help or training. While working the times Management would tell me what to do the Manager would tell me how to do something and 5 minutes later the assistant manager would tell me to do it differently. This became a problem because my manager would not be happy with me and tell me to do it their way and then the assistant manager would become upset with me. The manager would put me in an aisles to work in but the assistant manager would tell me to go somewhere else so the my manager would be upset that I was somewhere else and when I would try to explain myself they "didn't want to hear it". On nights that just the assistant manager would be in charge they would be gone most of the night and the rare times they would show up they would tell both me and my other colleagues how bad of a job we would be doing. If you did something to make them upset you would be put in an aisle you don't know very well or in my case I was put in the chemical aisle which I was allergic to some products in said aisle. In a nutshell: the co-workers were awesome always trying to help - more...

As a employer at Walmart they offer you good opportunities, you get to know everything around by being in a computer. As a cashier is nice to work but sometimes you get overwhelmed it depends of how busy it gets. you have to work weekends, evenings, but they are a dollar ahead from the minimum wage, management is unfair I got in trouble for no reason it was one of the manager mistake and all they blame me.
I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the staff and I appreciate that they have a staff of many different backgrounds and cultures. The new products to be put on display are never ending and sometimes you feel that you never complete a task but you just have to know someone on the next shift will just carry on. That’s what the job is all about. I also like that management has a customer first attitude so I enjoy helping customers and know that I won’t be chastised for help a customer for a few minutes instead of arranging the items I am currently working with.
Lots of shifts
I know management is 'trying' their best. Regardless they keep dropping the ball. Chronically under staffed and as such remaining employees are sometimes doing up to 5 times the work load they should. The whole store is falling apart from the inside out and management doesn't care or at least they're not doing a thing about it. Poor scheduling and no regard for the health of their employees. I have no respect for a company that wont let someone going the chemo have even a day off to get treatment (this has happened more than once). They also told me that I was getting my yearly raise and they did; accept it was a raise to minimum wage and while thats not illegal its very scammy
10% discount on some items
over worked, under staffed, poor scheduling, incompetent management
The people at Walmart are all nice to each other but there are a lot of times to feel neglected by managers. After each year you get a raise but once minimum wage surpasses that amount you're being paid the same amount as someone who could've just started.
1 hour lunch on long shifts
Very little pay and raises after one year are minmal
Thought this would be a good entry level job. Schedule for cashier is all over the place. They would not give me more than 24 hours a week and prefer instead to have lots of employed working 12 - 16 hours per wee. All of your performance reviews and feedback is around selling Walmart credit cards. You must ask everyone and even pressure them to sign up or you hear it from management..... alot. Do yourself a favour and only work here if you are REALLY desperate
Pressure to sell credit cards
I worked here for 2 years and enjoyed me time there. I do think your experience is based off of who your direct Manager is. I had a fantastic manager. very fair. My only complaint is wages do not reflect minimum wage increases. If you're hired at 50 cents above minimum wage and it goes up 40 cents, you won't get a raise. And unless you are an exception, you can only earn UP TO a 50 cent raise a year.
profits bonus, opportunities to earn certificates.
