It was really fun working at Walmart, because I had the opportunity to work with people from all over the world, literally. The renumeration was not great, and as a part-time Manager, I wasn't entitled to benefits for the period I spent there. There were lots of hours available and alloted, but the motivation to take up hours was really low because of the pay. But the shifts and the managers were reasonablly flexible
Great co-workers, past paced, job security, good environment
If your a hard worker, youll be one of the few here. Walmart is full of slackers, if you care about your job you will be doing all the work. Most employees dont care. Ive never seen so much produce wasted in my life. They leave produce that should be refridgerated out for hours on end. No one rotates the produce. And even some produce sits on unrefridgerated shelves when it should be in fridge display. Managers threaten to write you up for something someone else did. You tell them you didnt do it, they said i dont care. Absolutely no work life balance. If you need to take time off they cut your hours. If you want abosultely no life, work here. They want you available 5 am till 11 p.m 7 days a week. But soemtimes schedule you at 4 am. Hours are all over the place, and ofcourse everyone knows there are no holidays. They tell you in the interview they are one big family and that they will care about you, but when time comes you dont matter. The displays are gross, so many times on end i inhaled green mold powder. No one wants to clean. Produce that falls under displays is left to rot.
Sometimes free lunches
Not treated well
Walmart job is my first job and to be honest it is one of the best job I could have ever found. I am currently an hourly associate and completely satisfied with my work and I can also see myself getting opportunities to rise in ranks in the future. And the working environment is so good. Even the salary is satisfying.
It is Just a job. No equality and inclusion in reality. No appreciation. Not the best wins here. Color and connections help you grow without talent. Now work life balance. Overwork. Don’t expect you to take lunch breaks as a manager. You feel guilty if you take it.
Go to certain stores in the Calgary area and beyond you will find employees and managers from one minority group are being overrepresented. Unwilling to break the status quo, HR attempts to defend their position by saying some stores are in the type of demographic areas where candidates from other ethnicities are not available and, in reality, these associates often do not live even close to these stores.
Lack of recognition, expected to reply to work-related messages and calls from home
Deerfoot City Walmart schedules against availability, doesn’t allow 8hrs between start times. Doesn’t pay out money owed at the end of employment and personnel don’t return phone calls. Assistant managers don’t follow company guidelines but make up her own rules all to give the customer whatever they want. Manager expects you to stay past your scheduled shift frequently as she doesn’t complete schedules thouroughlyWas not a good final experience.
Working at Walmart is good, I learned a lot and it's very fast-paced, but it isn't stressful and the environment is friendly. The most enjoyable part of the job is being a self-services cashier. The hardest part of the job is learning all the codes, but that comes with time.
no one will train you properly... communication within the organization is poor....management is not strict that is why associates do not care.. pay is almost the same to everyone, does not matter if you do the hard work or not.
pay is low
