Great place not considering management

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Awesome group of guys to work with in shop setting. Management above branch manager was brutal to deal with. A lot of safety regulations are just generally ridiculous (banning sledge hammers...) Employees were great when it was busy and nobody was concerned for their jobs, as soon as it was slow they would throw you under the bus for anything. Lots of cliques, and politics between different projects in shop. Field work was much better because you didn't have to deal with shop snakes. HR is weak at best. Upper management will be the downfall of this once great company.

Pros

Good money, lots of hours when busy, paid during school

Cons

Laid off due to accting oversight, micro-managed

Safe, lucrative, and friendly

Company implemented all necessary precautions to ensure we wouldn’t get injured on the job. Teammates were friendly and pulled their own weight without being told to. Plenty of hours and good money too.

Expanded my skillset

I worked at Wajax for a few years, during which time I significantly expanded my skillset and met a bunch of awesome people. Once it started taking a toll on my body, I decided it was time to leave.

Learn as you go

Working here is THE best way to pick up tons of new skills if you’re interested in working with machinery. You mostly learn as you as you go, and if you need help you can always ask a more experienced coworker to help you out.

Horrible

Stressful, low work life balance, low training, bad support, pay for your own tooling, supplied tooling old and worn out, horrible culture and they fight against own HR dept attempt to support employees. Go somewhere else. High turnaround

very stressfull

You are required to work on your own dime for pm quotes which added up to over 10 hours a week. My use of my accumulated vacation hours was often denied.

Corrupt Management & Union Corporate Cronism

If you're in trades it's union job and union benefits. Union is a joke. No standards in hiring, training and firing. Corruption at every level. Top heavy company. Too many administrators for a small crew who does most of the heavy lifting. Safety is another joke. They use safety as a card t fire and suspend people. They don't encourage reporting injuries. But they say they care. Half of the guys are in light duty all the time to get away from jobs or getting fired.

Pros

Decent pay for union trades

Cons

Full time unreal drama, Few old guys run rings around management and all new guys, Management never figure out where the trouble comes from, Unqualified managers and unloyal workers

Good people, Very poor management.

Local management is a joke and constantly stabbing each other in the back making it difficult to get anything done. Lack of tooling and appreciation for bottom line employees, treated as numbers and disposable labour. Foreman is under qualified often leaving the shop to run itself. Employees have no voice and are always at fault especially when foreman or upper management are the root cause of all the issues.

Very Unpleasant place to work

Management is mostly thinking about their own business from service and parts operation. If you audit the service and parts operation you will find many places to improve and increase the KPI. Safety is just a slogan and when it comes to reality, nobody cares about safety. Very unclean and air quality in the workshop is below the standards.

Pros

"Benefits"

Cons

Poor Management

OK company to work for. Very slow, make decent money, good benefits. Company doesn't care much about the employees. They take and take, and never give back.

Don't recommend

Poor management, lack of leadership, not much support. Not much room for advancement. Lots of told one thing, but really it's another. Persons skills and abilities not used to be able to succeed.

Productive but stressful workplace.

Management can become irritable and it makes the workplace not an enjoyable place to work. It is not a good place for new mechanics to learn or take an apprenticeship.

Work life balance with no room for advancement

Will be told what you want to hear to get you through the door with no follow through. Has no organizational skills. Lower management is new to positions and it shows. Flexible schedule. The negative reputation is warranted.

Pros

short days

Cons

no room for advancement
