Good work, not well compensated
ESL Tutor (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 5 April 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedTeaching the kids is fun and interesting, but takes prep work even though the slides are written. The kids are very smart, driven and nice to teach.

Self Scheduling
Online English Tutor (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 20 March 2020
Its a great company to work at, the self scheduling is very helpful and easy to maintain. Typical day at work starts with meeting students, talking to them about their goals for the week and the requirements they would like to fulfil.
Focus on learning but also fun so it is easier to absorb the knowledge.

Exciting and flexible work hours
Tutor (Current Employee) - Virtual - 16 August 2019
With VIPKID, each day is an exciting opportunity to teach young English learners. I enjoy being able to choose my own schedule and work accordingly from the comfort of my home.
I have learned to use gestures and props to convey meaning of words. VIPKID management is compassionate and responsive to teacher complaints. It is a very accommodating culture. There are several Facebook groups where teachers discuss and share ideas.
The hardest part about the job is standing out to parents to increase bookings because payment isn't guaranteed unless you teach classes.

"Making a Difference" teacher
Private Tutor/Teacher (Current Employee) - At home: it is Online: computer face to face. - 17 July 2018
I teach/tutor English to Chinese kids aged 4 to 14 through VIPKIDs ( a Chinese company). It is an online computer process with pre-programmed powerpoint slides. I teach for 25 minutes per class, generally Monday through Sunday from 600pm to 900pm. I have taught 744 classes, with 442 students for 370 days so far.
Management and organization are excellent. The most difficult part is that I don't know exactly who my bosses are, as they are in Beijing. The kids have mostly western names and I know most of them which are delightful. The most enjoyable part of the job is to see that I am "making a difference" in their English Education. I love to see their smiles!
