Great place to work and make friends.Taking away remote work has not worked well. Company's culture can improve to make people feel safe and welcomed.

Thank you for your positive feedback about your experience at Vendasta. We're delighted to hear that you've found our workplace to be a great environment for building friendships. Your social connections contribute to the vibrant culture we aim to foster. We appreciate your honest insight regarding remote work. While we've made adjustments to our remote work policy, we understand that this shift for certain levels of our development team has presented challenges for some. Your perspective is essential, and we're actively exploring ways to find a balance that supports both employee preferences and our company's goals.Your feedback about our culture is also valuable. We're dedicated to ensuring all team members feel safe, valued, and welcome. You're better off elsewhere

If you like micromanagement, high stress, and mediocre pay, Vendasta is a great company. The average "cycle" (3-5 months):- Sell a large client on features we don't have- Spend months focusing on that client- Discover a "fire" and pivot entire divisions to put it out- Neglect the large client until they become a "fire" threatening to churn- Rinse and repeatAt the start of the year, the company will say "This is the year of great customer experience", but then build new features while the core system is janky and borderline unusable. This happens every year.Toxic behavior is rewarded as long as it brings results. If you have mental health issues, please take this seriously. Vendasta is behind almost every other tech company in the prairies when it comes to supporting employees. Your mental health is likely to suffer. You have to sing in front of the whole company on your first Friday. In general, only the leadership team likes this. It's hazing, which speaks to the culture in general. Every new employee is warned about this their first week... if you have to warn new employees about this, that should be a red flag. The company tries to do too much. Burnout is common, and the software is of low quality. It's not all negatives. The coworkers are in general great, and the work is challenging. The free food was great when we could have it too.

Pros

Free food (pre-pandemic), interesting work, great coworkers

Cons

Micromanagement, high turnover, intense stress

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns so you can find a happy career at Vendasta. It sounds like you’ve been working directly with our partners, and the teams that do that are critical to our business’s success. Just as critical is the software we produce to serve them. 2020 was the year of great customer experience, and we managed to do a lot to remove frictions. As any software company can attest, there’s always more work to do. I hope you’ll stay with our team to see how the platform and our partnerships grow. This all said, it sounds like you are experiencing stress and unhappiness at work, and that’s something we need to fix. We’ve taken note of your feedback and shared it with People Operations and the executive team. Now, let’s talk about some options to get things back on track: First, you can chat with your team leader in your weekly one-on-one about specific issues or barriers so that they can help address them. Second, you can submit an anonymous question or comment for All Hands in VoxPopuli (which is linked on the Intranet homepage). Third, you can provide anonymized feedback in Officevibe, which is regularly reviewed by leadership teams. If you are concerned about your or others’ mental health, be sure to check out our resources on the Intranet portal under Vendastian Playbook. The team is looking to update that information to include mental health support opportunities through our benefits plan. Regardless of the path you choose, I hope you know you are heard, you are supported, and we are having active conversations about your feedback.

Fast-Paced, but Very Poor Communication

During my short time at Vendasta, there were many instances that made me realize this wasn't a great place to work. They oversell themselves as a company that revels in team-bonding and life-work balance. However, as my colleagues expressed working almost double their hours to stay on top of day-to-day work, with no help from upper management to help with more incoming and overbearing work, it became difficult to root for the company. I went through a restructure that I was not informed of previous to being hired. My role as a "Marketing Strategist" was changed to "Account Coordinator" without being notified (which is against labour standards, but they didn't even have me talk to HR or sign any forms for this). My training for this position was cut short after a month, while my duties that I had been trained for changed suddenly - while I was told it would take 5-6 months to train for my position. I asked to be moved to a department that desperately needed more help, and I was told that they would love to have me, but any changes wouldn't happen for a month or longer. It was an overall great experience meeting the people that worked there, however, the expectations and workload don't match the salary or vision they try selling you from the start. Also, good luck getting any sort of raise if you're not an executive - the poor starting wage is the best you'll get unless you fight tooth and nail for something better. Good stepping-stone company, but look elsewhere if you already have experience.

Pros

Free lunches, Free Breakfast, fast-paced

Cons

Poor salary to workload ratio, poor training, expensive parking, unprofessional, poor communication

It is unfortunate to hear you didn’t have a great experience in your short time at Vendasta. Our Marketing Services division had some organizational changes, and we aimed to be transparent about the new roles. Thank you sincerely for the feedback. We’ll be able to meet with the team to discuss how we can improve in the future. To speak specifically to pay, we have an annual review process regarding raises for all employees to ensure we always have an eye on the value of our people and their skills. It was good to hear that you had a great experience meeting and working with your team. We recognize it can be hard working remote, and wonderful team members can make all the difference!

If work hard play hard is relevant to you, Vendasta is the place!

Best Company I've ever worked for hands down. The CEO, the founders, and team management leaders have created a culture that will help you grow in your career as well as personal development. Vendasta is a Family! There is nothing better than Family!

Pros

Fringe Benefits

Fast-paced company with great culture but poor management

To succeed at Vendasta you have to be passionate, creative, and a quick-learner. Your manager may not always be able to support you or tell you exactly what to do, but if you develop a passion for your work and experiment, you may succeed! Overall, I found the amount of stress and lack of support hard on my mental health.

Pros

free food, great people

Cons

poor management, high stress

Not a productive workplace

I worked at Vendasta for a couple of years and it has a lot of issues. Management is either non-existent or wildly overbearing with nothing in between.

Great at first but the cracks start to show quickly

Seems to be kind of a theme with people who don't like this place, but it seems so awesome at first and once you get in it and realize that management for the most part is terrible, see the high rate of turnover, the toxic levels of forcing culture on you, getting paid too little and having awful benefits, and essentially have $66 a month stolen from you to pay for food that you never eat, it goes from good to garbage real quick. I wouldnt recommend working here to my worst enemy. Oh also the CEO's head is so big I'm surprised he can even fit it in the building. Good golly does that guy ever love kissing his own butt

Challenging work, great people

Vendasta is a unique place. It's growing really quickly, and it's full of people that are really passionate about what they do. The perks are great, there are opportunities to learn every day, and the future seems bright.

Great place to work and learn

Strong tech stack and modern software development patterns. I worked for a cross-product web application in an agile environment. The company follows the latest software development pattern and as a developer, you don't really need to worry anything other than technology. Overall, a good place for developers to work and learn together.

Growing...and fast

I come from a corporate world, and this place is so very, very different from what I was used to. It IS fast-paced, but it makes it exciting and challenging. Be prepared for change, but listen ... it's the kind of change you'd experience at a company where the charts are heading up and to the right, which is very refreshing. Fun teams, happy space.

Pros

Free food, fun events, flexible schedule, exciting work, and flex days.

Cons

Benefits could be better

Exciting and Innovative Company you can grow in!

Vendasta is an agile software company but has many other divisions other than development. I have seen multiple people, including myself grow and change roles. They value all of their employees opinions and work hard to over communicate to everyone at their weekly All Hands Meeting. Anyone in the marketing, sales, customer service or development space should check them out. Aside from the free breakfast and lunch, on site massage, car detailing and lots of perks it is a place you can learn, challenge yourself and add value.

Pros

Development Opportunities, Free Breakfast and Lunch

Cons

Very fast paced

Wouldn't wish my worst enemies working here

The company offloads too much work on too few people in their Marketing Services department. Vendasta often goes on firing sprees, with no reason given to those fired and work loads simply added to existing employees. Work/Life balance is slim to none, the company expects participation in lunch-hour seminars (called Lunch and Learn) which you are not compensated for. They claim these seminars are optional but you are disciplined if you do not attend. The company also has a history of homophobia, transphobia and misogyny that it can't seem to shake. Don't work here.

Big opportunities, bright future

Even though Vendasta's been around for 10 years, it's still at the start of its journey. There's a huge opportunity for it to be one of most successful companies in Canada. Exciting to contribute to such incredible growth.

Pros

Great people, lots of fun. Given latitude to make positive changes. Free food & decent social events.

Cons

Frequently org & strategy changes (not ideal for people who need rigid structure)

The environment provided endless food as perks

They are doing many things well, but there is a need for a great deal of improvement. They boast flexible hours but do not seem to appreciate hard working employees.

Pros

Free Lunches

Cons

Poor Communication, Inaccurate training

Good perks, bad management

Getting cooked breakfast and lunch is great but the leadership within Vendasta is very poor and disjointed. Many top executives have bailed over the last 6 months and they have been laying off sales people because they have no leads. They cannot keep clients happy and they end up leaving within a few months. They have a good product but they don't know how to scale the company

Poorly managed, to say the least

Too many products in their Marketplace, no one is an expert on everything and customers get overwhelmed and confused. Everyone is overworked and stressed, but they continue to want to grow the company at an unsustainable rate. Very little job security, as there is a high turn-over rate and many positions have been getting cut recently. HR Department has ignored complaints against other coworkers. Widely different salaries for the same position. False advertising for their new positions, leading to unhappy new hires. Proper training is non-existent.

Young vibrant workplace but need to pay employees ,roe

Great culture but does not provide the best financial security. Offers many opportunities for employees to mingle, have fun and participate in extra curricular activities. However, the pay structure does not represent the amount of work output.
