Good place to work if you are ok working with people who have lots of needs and self importance
OPERATIONS MANAGER (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 15 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedBusy day from start to finish usually. Limited policies and structure was in place however this did get better. I believe I learned that although everyone is working for the same company they all have their own agendas and no clear path of direction. Management has recently changed which I’m being told is for the better, however perviously very toxic due to the GM my way of the highway stance. Hardest part of the job is managing the GM and the ever needy entitled members. Most enjoyable part of the day is the staff and limited members who are nice people.
Pros
Good benefits, bonuses and team
Cons
GM’s way only if he doesn’t like you you won’t last

Nice co workers / bad management
Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 27 August 2023
My co workers are nice and fun to work with , but manager doesn’t know how to manage and makes work more harder and complicated . He likes to be bossing around by calling a lot of times and he micro manage all the time. He makes schedules very confusing and unorganized so you cannot make plans for yourself and loose your work life balance. He will hire students but will not care about your schedule on your school. The hardest part of the job is carrying heavy furniture and the pay is really low.
Pros
Free meals, uniform
Cons
Schedule/Management

Overworked, Understaffed, Poor Management
Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 8 May 2023
Lack of direction from management. They were all over the place. Stressful due to the busyness but lack of staff to keep up. Just overall toxic environment. Some of the long time staff are so set in their ways and totally miserable. Overworked, underpaid. 2 stars for the good staff I've stayed in contact with.

Awful
Server/Bartender/expo (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 25 October 2022
Toxic work environment, terrible management. Your typical day at work will be one of contention and dissention, everyone against everyone nobody cares. The managers only care about themselves, and will participate in work place harassment that is prevalent at the the club, including spreading rumors about you, lying, and other joyful things. Terrible place, everyone I worked with hated it.

Receptionist (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 14 December 2021
Everyone is very nice to work at. The members have a routine and you quickly get to know all the members. You manager will always have your back. You get to wear a uniform provided to you so no need to buy new clothes for the positions.
Pros
Free staff lunch, coworkers
Cons
Dealing with rude members

Bad Place for career
Banquet Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 8 December 2020
Less hours, talkative managers and they have big ego .They only want to push workers and they want to push them hardly. I think that this place has no good management and also clients are so rude for the workers , because they think that they are rich and everbody listens them.
Pros
Less food
Cons
Bad conditions

Great company to work for!
Kitchen (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 4 June 2020
The management team has really taken care of the staff! Many changes have been made to improve culture and build the team. The culture is very friendly with members and employees. Professional, but casual environment. Great hourly rate and management worked hard to have gratuities for staff. I love coming to work and the people I work with!

Unsafe work environment
Server/Bartender (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 30 January 2020
There are a number of really nice staff members, so you will probably make some friends. But there are also noted racists and predators. Management will turn the other cheek when you get harassed. You will not be safe from predatory members. You will not be safe from potential hate crime. You will not be believed when you report harassment. Not a safe place for females, or people of color.

Not a good place to work
Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 29 January 2020
Members and co workers nice, management can be difficult.
Was being paid $2 less than people that started after me.
No tips and if you’re section was busy management got annoyed if other co workers helped you.
That was my experience hopefully it wasn’t/ isn’t like that for everyone else.

Not Worth It
Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 26 January 2020
Management doesn't care about the employees here. I cannot stress that enough! The members always come first and are never wrong even if they scream at or harass you. They won't stand up for employees, or punish anyone (staff or members) who breaks the rules. You cannot feel safe here. You will not feel safe here: especially for what they're paying.
Pros
Job Security
Cons
Everything else

Union security but you suffer for it
Restaurant Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver BC - 26 February 2019
Worked here for over two years. Wage was high because it is union but there are no tips. The hours are dependable and there are no late nights.
When I worked there the staff was great, it was a really fun group. However, apart from the restaurant manager, management was terrible. They treated employees like it was 'us against them' and I never felt like I was valued or appreciated. The head chef refused to serve anything but fried food for staff meals even when there were salads and better foods available. He threw out the food instead.
Also because it was union, there was no team work, one time when a coffee pot was overflowing, a woman from housekeeping came and told me about it. When I asked her if she had stopped it or put something to catch the coffee under the drip she replied that it wasn't her department. She literally left coffee pouring all over the floor.
Pros
No late nights, high wage
Cons
Terrible management

Big Club with a lot of different activities
Cook (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 12 November 2018
A very interesting Membership base from across the spectrum. The Club provices great sports, extensive food and beverage, ancillary fitness and professional training for the members. The restaurants are of good quality, and catering is very good at the Club.
Pros
The staff and membership
Cons
Politics

Excellent and supportive colleagues. Energetic and fun Clientele
Personal Trainer (Current Employee) - Vancouver - 28 November 2016
Either working one on one or with pairs, we work to define individual goals and train in a capacity that fit with what people want to accomplish. I've learned to be very empathetic, patient and to be a good listener. These attributes are essential in building what are very personal relationships. My co-workers have also taught me a lot through their professionalism and various disciplines.
Management is amazing. Nothing but helpful, encouraging and very, very organized. The hardest part of the job, 6 am starts. I have had to learn to become a morning person. Best part of the job is that I'm essentially my own boss. I have a very nice work/life balance
Pros
I walk to work most days. Free coffee and $200/yr for Continuing Education
Cons
Really early mornings
