Toxic workplace
Case Manager (Current Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 21 August 2023
Unrealistic workload & culture of bullying is prevalent. Hard work is punished by supervisors who add more workload on to nurses who are highly productive

Busy and rewarding
Booking Clerk/Secretary (Current Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 7 February 2023
I like the people I work with. Management is great. Pay could be better for the volume of work you have, but what's new. I find it rewarding to provide service to patients, even if a friendly helpful face can ease their anxiety - that is a nice reward.

Some great staff and coworkers. Management not so much.
LPN (Former Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 1 November 2020
I worked for Vancouver coastal for 35 yrs. Management comes and goes. Many long time management were treated poorly as well as.On a positive note there was much more atonomy for staff nurses to go about their work with out being followed by superiors micromanaging. Senior staff are often treated poorly and many retired early as a result. Working with some fantastic staff made things better.
Pros
Excellent co workers
Cons
Chronic fatigue and turnover. Of staff

Toxic Workplace
Portfolio Clerk Staffing (Former Employee) - North Vancouver - 13 April 2020
Too much favoritism, too much stabbing of the back, too much politics, too much incompetent, to much laziness, sucking up is the norm. If you are incompetent and lazy but you are a master of sucking up, you'd be favoured and get away with everything, you can screw up million times, you are still be best employee.
Kudos to incompetent Managers, they thrive in Vancouver Coastal Health.

Office Assistant (Current Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 26 October 2017
very busy offices
I definitely have learned to multitask as management believes one person can perform duties that would normal take two people.
Workplace can be negative as management is unable to deal with staffing issues adequately.
Met a few great staff members
Dealing with the public.
Pros
Pension
Cons
Stressful work environment

Coordinator Medical Administration (Current Employee) - north vancouver - 11 October 2017
LGH is an interesting place to work for, my supervisors are absolutely amazing and the physicians that I worked for, incredible. The hospital focuses on patient, nurses and practitioners but not much for their admin staff.

Good Job poor management
Scheduler (Current Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 22 November 2016
Scheduling visits for chw's (psw's) to visit clients in their homes.
Filling sick calls and vacation requests.
Ensuring chw's get paid properly and coding hours.
Adjust visit times with multiple considerations.
Including Client preferences, client needs such as time specific medication, over-time, minimum daily hours for chw's, and avoiding giving chw's split shifts.
Working with supervisors to determine the best schedule for clients.
Helped create a new system to organize client visits more efficiently reducing the total driving distance for chw's and the total number of chw's who visit any one client.
Pros
We have to work evenings and weekends.
Cons
Free parking is over 1km away.
