Toxic Management, Team lead and manager, HR is no help either
Service Desk Analyst I (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 12 April 2022
A lot of micromanagement and hypocrisy by team lead and manager. The team has its own rules different than the university. Team is approved for remote by the university but you won’t get to work remotely at all, they make a great deal about it. So much unclarity on policies and managers not responding to requests on time. On face HR is with you but they will not help you as they’re constrained by the policies that seem to be set in 1900s. The job is not challenging, minimal or very slow growth, you’ll be wasting time here that you can spend at another organization that values your input. They won’t focus on the 8 things you’re doing great or appreciate you at all, but micromanage and give you a lot of pain on things that have little to no significance in post covid world. New jobs are posted every couple weeks but you won’t be chosen due to office and management politics.

Good part time job
Front Desk Worker (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 20 June 2020
The Job can be a bit mundane at times but overall simple to learn and execute. Staff is very friendly and it is a University environment so it is laid back for the most part.

Academic freedom
ESL Instructor (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 23 April 2020
There was encouraged academic freedom in the teaching of the classes by the department; however, due to overall decisions made by the university it was difficult to obtain any consistent hours within the university. I enjoyed working with the department, and would have welcomed the opportunity to continue to be there.

Great learning and working environment!
Physical Literacy Action Network Volunteer (Current Employee) - Chilliwack, BC - 17 January 2020
Great learning and working environment This is a committed volunteer position per semester. It is a constantly evolving environment with interaction with many different students in one day. The hardest part of the job is understanding the lesson plan and being prepared to teach it with 24 hours notice. The most enjoyable parts of the job is seeing the sparkle in a child's eye when they realize they can do something new. This opportunity provides a great work experience for anyone looking to go into teaching or working with children!

Workplace Culture
Audio Visual Technician (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 15 September 2019
It's a nice place to work at. They arranged your work schedule depending on the classes you are taking. So you won't have any trouble juggling study and work since they will still give a you lot of time to study. Just tell them that you're having trouble with your school works or if you demand more hours, they'll give it to you.

Flexible Hours for students
Global Student Associate (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 15 October 2018
gave Flexible Hours for students. However hours were less and employers were more. Their expectations were also unclear. Most of the stuff is to be discovered by the worker himself/herself.
