Overall pays well, but really depends on the type of job you have. As a teaching assistant you don't have regularized work hours. No time off since the jobs are contracted. However, benefits are pretty good and the pay is fair for the kind of work you perform (considering the education level).

I work as a Graduate teaching assistant and graduate research assistant. A typical day of graduate student includes attending classes, giving TA sessions and research work. It is quite demanding yet rewarding.

Gaining exposure in laboratory research settings is good experience for R&D and the pros and cons that come along with it. Problem solving, desire to learn and developing technical writing skills area big plus.

Labs are new and open in the new Engineering building (E6), and openly customizable. Management depends on individual supervisors, but the atmosphere is professional around the building, and there are classes and meetings taking place within the building.
Pros
Good common space for students
Cons
You're a student
