Working as an RA is very subjective based on the research area and the people you collaborate with. In my case, it has been great. It is also flexible to give you time for your studies.

Okay part-time job for student need more financial support
Teaching Assistant (Marker) of Computer Science and Mathematics (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 4 January 2023
If you have free time, go for it. You need to contact the right person to apply for the math marker. Starting from making good connections first, same for the comp-sci department. The later one goes a bit formal with more competitors.
Pros
Flexible to arrange work hours for students
Cons
Not very organized in the Math department, CMPT is a bit better but harder to get in
